I agree with your post and would like to add that although I like what they tried to do with the class and path system it has many flaws or rather is too unbalanced. Some paths are pointless or lose half of their effectiveness as their skills are a contradiction and situational, classes need to be better defined or restructured to the changes they made or added. Example:
RECON signature set is meant to benefit sniper rifles so it forces players to be back liners, no benefit for front engagement except set the TUGS
SPEC OPS skills are meant for moving on the front and has no practical use being a back liner, regardless of how you play this path has lost half of its effectiveness before the match even started
SITUATIONAL the class is supposed to be about stealth engagement and spotting but snipers give away their position for doing their job and spec ops can't traverse the map stealthy as the maps are small, game pace is to fast and you'll encounter enemies no matter where you go, auto spotting gives your position away, thermal will highlight your position and mark you as an enemy, do i need to say more?
