As someone that was the co founder of a 100 member platoon on bf3 it is a bad idea to allow large numbers of the same platoon onto a team, it creates spawn traps and kills public servers.
You can host your own tournaments, have scrims etc just make a portal server, have it password protected get everyone in and (I'm hoping you can do this in portal) switch everyone to the right team.
Dice don't need to provide rewards etc just for platoons, I remember a time when bragging rights was it's own reward.
But I agree, platoons NEED to return.
It all depends. All platoons i were in used to switch sides and balance server. What you say is make your own server, but try to populate it. Take 2042 as an example. Here you have the same system, *cod* lobbies, party, temporary servers, and *shait* exploit servers in portal
Joining on platoon members worked till bf1, even bf5 (bob and mika servers). For community's sake it SHOULD return
