Grenade Launcher Gunner Rework
Hey everyone, I've seen a lot of hate in game chat for the Grenade Launcher gunner option in vehicles. Hate which I share wholeheartedly since it seems to be the worst option you can put on a vehicle.
What is the purpose of this weapon? It's terrible at close range. Even worse at long range and rarely does enough vehicle damage to even be a factor in armour vs armour fights and sacrifices all the AA support damage that a good gunner can usually use to dissuade an attack heli. You can rarely get a kill with a full burst, by the time you can shoot a second burst the player has had plenty of time to relocate, it is basically a crowd suppression peashooter which in the current match balance does little to nothing for your team.
I would propose the Dev team pick a specific niche for the Grenade Launcher and stick to it.
If the burst is turned into full auto it could be a CQ area control monster, or alternatively splash radius or damage could be buffed to achieve the same effect. It would be nice to use it as a way to deal with engineers fixing other vehicles.
Incendiary or gas options could also be an interesting way to spice up its anti-infantry capabilities.
If it is positioned as an anti-vehicle gunner support then make it deal significant damage vs other vehicles and keep its infantry damage low.
But at the moment it stands in an awkward place where it does everything worse than a LMG or HMG gunner.
