How to: fix jet main gun damage "issue" without nerfing its damage.
The solution, rather than the upcoming jet main gun damage nerf, is to give jets and helicopters damage zones on the vehicles for critical damage areas and "gracing hits" areas. Put damage hit-boxes in areas where there are critical components on them, and make it operate like the headshot multiplier system. That way the hard to hit areas will reward skillful play rather than just needing any ol hit with them, making those critical damage hit-boxes the same damage as current pre-nerf damage, and the rest of the body/shell have SUBSTANTIALLY lower damage, something akin to 0.25x multiplier for non-critical hits.
This also incentivizes learning more about the targets youre about to engage prior to going at it. Learning the different damage zone hit-boxes of each vehicle to know where you have to shoot. This particularly rewards the targets by evasive flying that puts the critical zones out of impact paths.
The community would love the developers for such balancing over blatant ham-fisted approaches.
