Manual vs Auto Laser Designator

I’d love to see players be rewarded in a squad when they run the laser designator manually and not giving up position with the bright red beam. Trying to support my squad and as soon as I get a lock on a tank etc, I’m instantly pinpointed and turned on.  If tank driver is running a gadget or something that is achieving this, fine, but if not some balancing would be nice there. 

When you set it down to auto mode, 100% light that red beam up and make less effective, but don’t penalize those trying to player supporting their squad directly.
