MAS-148 is useless compared to other launchers. Please buff?

The MAS-148 (also known as the Javelin in previous titles) is massively inferior to pretty much any launcher in the game. In previous titles, you could deal around 30-40 damage with a missile to armor such as a main battle tank, and when designated multiplies its damage by 1.5x or so while also critically disabling it from moving.

Unfortunately, it's nearly useless compared to any other launcher. The MBT LAW deals only 5 less damage compared to a PAINTED MAS-148 shot on armor clocking in at 35. Older titles also had the ability to lock without line of sight, increasing its usage tenfold. Squads were able to band together to take down vehicles that were being oppressive with one laser designator and two or more Javelin users, but now the Javelin is relegated to pretty much being a joke weapon as it deals pathetically low damage for a missile that can be beaten by countermeasures and flies so slow that it is completely incapable of keeping up with air, including helicopters. 

This also is hindered by the fact that the pathing of the MAS-148, much like other launchers, "predicts" where a target is going which includes aircraft. I have, on more than one occasion, witnessed it flying straight into the ground upon launch. This makes it even less useful.

Can the damage of the MAS-148 be buffed to at least 50 on painted armored targets, along with a guidance fix and a big velocity boost given to it so that it can at least keep up with aircraft that have lost their countermeasures? These are almost the exact same problems in 2042 that it has, except its pathing is okay and the damage is considerable there. This would make it stand out as a high-damage launcher tuned for use with laser designation and encourage the use of specific anti-armor squads to take down vehicles.

If you wanted to take it a step further, it could be the only launcher that's allowed to lock out of line of sight. This would further increase its use with laser painting. Please do consider this as it's a fan-favorite launcher for locking down enemy armor. I'd love to see it in an amazing state once more.

  • absolutely agree, it doesnt deal more damage to the top of the vehicle, but other launchers do??? wtf?
    it doesnt target from "long range" and you only have two rockets, when you need 5 to kill a tank.... (not counting in the rockets he smoked away).
    it is market, but it is lost with a god **bleep** gunfire temps, since the rockets lose lock on without any countermeasures.

  • I find most launchers weak. Especially when planes can outfly them or hide on the small maps.

    No splash damage to infantry...or to many rockets needed on vehicles

  • It needs a massive buff:
    1) Increase damage by at least 25%.
    2) Increase number of rockets by at least one.
    3) Decrease the minimum distance that you need to be from the target.
    4) Allow the rocket to lock onto anything you are looking at, such as a sniper nest. Not just vehicles.
    5) Ideally, you could also lock onto painted vehicles without a visual line-of-sight.

  • 1000% agree!
    Look at the success with 1 shot kills in Ukraine with the real thing. If they don't want us to 1 shot an MBT with anything, then at least make the "Jav" a 2 shot kill. Being a top attack weapon should do a TON of damage to the vehicles in game. I even thought the Jav in 2042 was super weak!
