One thing I'll mention is that if you go to the "community" section on bf6's front page and join one of the playlists there...those put you in persistent lobbies. So if you join through one of those community playlists and the server is full then everyone stays together. Right now I think there's currently a hardcore breakthrough playlist and an infantry conquest playlist. They change every few days though. Strange thing is that even though these playlists put you in persistent lobbies...those lobbies don't appear anywhere in the server browser. So you can only join those particular ones through the playlists in that section. That was a goofy decision on Dice's part.
When I commented yesterday at 3:33pm, I tried joining a hardcore breakthrough playlist & infantry conquest, only to be put in a session alone.

Edit: I just re-read the thread and saw you're in australia. I'm in the US so there's usually people in at least one of those playlists as I've played in them a number of times, but there's obviously not as many people to join those playlists in lesser populated regions...plus a lot of people don't even know those playlists are persistent lobbies so many people don't join. I do miss the server systems and browser from the older games like BF1. It was always easy to find a match and stay in one back then. Even now with BF1 having far less players these days, I can still go in the browser and find a handful of full servers to play in.

Yes, I understand exactly where you are coming from.
We have 3 BF4 servers in australia, and only 2 of them usually have people on a weekend, but they are active. So even with the playerbase being in the double digits, I still get more human being matches because of the legacy server system.
Instead of throwing me around empty lobbies, which i feel should be the last thing the game does if worse comes to worse.
