One thing I'll mention is that if you go to the "community" section on bf6's front page and join one of the playlists there...those put you in persistent lobbies. So if you join through one of those community playlists and the server is full then everyone stays together. Right now I think there's currently a hardcore breakthrough playlist and an infantry conquest playlist. They change every few days though. Strange thing is that even though these playlists put you in persistent lobbies...those lobbies don't appear anywhere in the server browser. So you can only join those particular ones through the playlists in that section. That was a goofy decision on Dice's part.
I want to do this, but every time I check (even with filters) all I get are empty servers in my list. I never get any with actual players in them.
I don't understand why DICE can't figure out how to give us a true server browser, actual persistent servers (I'd pay extra per month to have one, like I did in BF3) and official play list servers. Its a much better and simpler system than this matchmaking and bot bologna.

The portal server browser is pretty bad and the filters reset frequently...so that is annoying too...but if you're in the US, you can find populated portal servers if you set the "player slots" filter to "Any". By default, that filter is set to "for party" and then you never see any full servers. Why on earth the default setting isn't "Any" is beyond me. There are a handful of very simple changes that could be made to the portal browser and portal servers in general to make it all a lot more useful, but Dice has done an embarrassingly awful job with it.
