The Sabotage Gamemode
One of the challenges required of players in the California Resistance segment of Season 1 is to "revive & restock 300 teammates on objectives."
This is an easy one on the surface, but the determining factor on whether or not you can progress this challenge is tied to the new Sabotage gamemode.
I understand you want people to play Sabotage, but restricting this challenge to one single gamemode is not a good idea, and i believe should be changed very soon. (Seeing as how little time we have to even do this "side-season" route.)
Currently, a lot of people aren't enjoying this mode. A lot of people here like big scale battles and modes (Conquest, Escalation, Breakthrough, and Rush.) so this gamemode inherently is not a popular mode due to that fact. This was made especially clear when trying to search for this mode the next day (On a weekend), upon which i waited about 2 minutes to find a server in queue, then waited 5 minutes in the Lobby as people jumped in, left, joined, left, etc etc, and the game never began as i was the last one in the lobby.
People just want to play your game, and unfortunately, if you aren't going to make modes that make THIS specific game fun, people will not play it.
I say this as someone who actually enjoys Sabotage. It's got a cool idea and does something most modes do rarely, which is give the engineer a purpose, EVEN when no vehicles are available.
The rocket launcher is great on attack, and the repair tool is fantastic on defence, repairing the caches is awesome and rewarding.
If one could change how Sabotage works to get the most people on board, I'd of course up the player count. And instead of making it one stage, I'd have it akin to Rush or Breakthrough, where the attackers go through multiple stages in the map wrecking the defense teams stuff.
Another idea would be to make it similar in function to Conquest, Escalation, Domination or even KOTH. Instead of sitting on a point with your body, to capture a point, you could destroy the caches in the area to return the point to neutral, then get to work setting up your teams caches, the more caches, the harder the attackers will have to fight to recapture the point. Whether it be multiple points or one, I believe there is a lot of potential with this "destroy the enemies toys" type mode.
But unfortunately, just like with Strikepoint. No one who likes or plays battlefield wants these sorts of mode. The BF6 team came out great with the introduction of Escalation! That mode is a huge hit and is still regularly played as an alternative to the conquest pace.
These smaller modes just aren't where people see the game shining, and I agree with these fans.
