Unfortunately I don't think the problem is with the equipment, it's with the operators. much harder to fix lol.
I think the point cost change could be warranted, it is a powerful attachment. I don't like the increased unlock time requirement. Feels like a "You must struggle this much to begin playing competitively" sort of a thing. If we assume everyone keeps playing the game, everyone has it eventually anyways.
They need to do something about the key-bind exploit where you can fire and range at the same time, my preference would be to add a short delay to the range adjustment, or, have it just display the range and you adjust manually.
The problem as I see it is that there are teams where 60% of players will keep sniping even though it means they will loose the game. They can really hold that one point, but they can't gain any ground.
I saw someone mention the K/D stat as a factor in another post and I completely agree. The CoD trend of K/D tracking and comparing is very pervasive and what I think is to blame. There is no Win/Loss Ratio on player profiles. Even if there was, as long as K/D is there, it's king. It's what your buddy's ask about. it's what the kids in chat will boast about. We've all been conditioned to some extent, I think it hurts the gameplay.
Will removing the K/D stat change anything? I don't know. It will surely make people mad. Everyone who's worked to keep their K/D high will feel their times been wasted. It would have been easier if as with previous titles it was never there. I don't think the core Battlefield player base would miss it terribly.
