What is HD textures for?

Can someone explain what HD textures for? are they 4k or 2k textures or a separate setting? I don't understand if I need this. I planning to play 2K on high settings, like I played in Beta.

    They're just higher quality textures. They utilize more VRAM, you run out of VRAM = terrible performance. While as long as you do have enough VRAM, they do not affect performance at all. There's no point in installing them if your card doesn't have enough VRAM, so it's an optional install.

    Should be, yeah. Although if you're running 4k and have everything else maxed out, it might no longer be.

    These downloadable HD elements are also available on console.

    How are these elements utilised on console?

    Oh, I got this, so this will be specific option in game menu, right? 12gb vram should be enough?
