Why the lack of MMR is killing the game (And why EA/DICE need to add it ASAP)

This game has a massive skill gap, and things cannot continue like this anymore. When I queue up for a match, I expect my teammates to be competent players who actually understand the game and contribute to the team.

Right now, the lack of teamwork is unbearable:
Medics refuse to drop ammo crates and walk right past dead teammates without reviving them.
Recons are 99% useless, sitting at the back of the map contributing nothing.
Assaults refuse to push the objectives to capture them.
Engineers place mines in the most absurd, useless locations and have no idea which gadgets to equip.

I have logged over 570 hours since launch, and I have seen enough clueless behavior. It makes no sense that I have to sprint across the entire map capturing flags by myself, while 80% of the lobby ends the match with fewer than 7 captures. Most players just camp for kills and 95% of them aren't even good at that. Seeing someone with a genuinely high K/D ratio is a rare exception.

This is complete madness. We cannot enjoy the game this way because it is not being played the way it was designed to be. One or two players cannot carry 30 other deadweight teammates every single match.

However, implementing a Matchmaking Rating (MMR) system would fix this. Everyone would finally get what they deserve and be placed in matches with players of their own skill level.

EA and DICE, I am begging you to let us properly enjoy the Battlefield 6 experience. This game has massive potential, but your current approach to matchmaking is holding it back. Adding MMR will give players a real incentive to improve, communicate, and play the objective, because they will finally have a rank to fight for. Please, save the core of Battlefield.

TL;DR: The massive skill gap and lack of teamwork are ruining the game. After 570 hours, I’m tired of carrying teams where Medics don't revive, Recons camp, and nobody plays the objective. EA/DICE must implement an MMR system to ensure balanced matches, reward proper teamplay, and give players a real incentive to improve

  • I get the frustration with bad teammates happens, alot either dont help or spawn on you and blow up your cover to troll.. but I don't think MMR would actually fix any of this. You're confusing raw skill with teamwork. A high-MMR lobby isn't going to give you team players it’s just going to give you hyper-aggressive sweats who care even less about dropping ammo because they are entirely focused on their own K/D

Secondly, MMR is a double-edged sword. A lot of people ask for it assuming they'll be put in the top brackets. But if the game's algorithm decides your stats actually place you in a lower tier, you'd go from having random teammates to being officially, permanently trapped in lobbies with the exact clueless players you're complaining about.

Make 'Need Ammo' requests more visible on the HUD and minimap, not just a tiny icon that blends into the background. other games it put the request in the chat, dont think it does that anymore? Should also add louder, distinct audio cues that cut through the gunfire when a squadmate requests something nearby.

  • I do not think what you are asking for is viable.  Yes they could go with a skill ranking based off K/D but that would not mean the person with a high K/D ratio is going to be the team player you are looking for.  You also have to take into consideration that not all modes in BF6 even have objectives and you may have people that play TDM or whatnot 90% of the time and then hop in a game of conquest from time to time so they may have this high MMR you want but they might just go around and kill enemies and focus on just that.

I do understand your frustration though, I only play Objective based modes in the BF franchise unless a friend drags me screaming into a FNBF event or something.

Usually getting just a squad to work together can be a challenge, an entire team? that is like herding cats.  You could try to find a clan/platoon to join some of them host portal servers and have discord voice comms.

I get your point about sweats, but high skill and teamwork aren't mutually exclusive. Personally, my win/lose ratio is close to 55% and my K/D is solid, which proves you can focus on winning and play the objective while maintaining good individual stats. MMR doesn't just measure aim; it measures impact on the game. Higher-tier players generally understand map control and resources better, including dropping ammo. Totally agree with you on the HUD and audio cues improvements, though – those are definitely needed

Valid points, but a proper MMR system in Battlefield shouldn't just look at K/D. It should heavily weight Score per Minute (SPM), objective captures, and team actions (revives, resupplies). A TDM player hopping into Conquest might have a high K/D, but their lower objective score would keep their Conquest MMR balanced. With my 55% win rate and solid K/D, I’m usually playing the objective hard. You're right about herding cats, but even just matching people who play the objective together would completely change the game experience.

They can't even use basic tactical attacks. They don't even know that smoke counters fire. They don't know they can drag you somewhere safer to revive you. This game has such weak players and such a terrible player base, it’s unbelievable. I’ve had this account since 2012, but honestly, I'm seriously looking forward to MW4.

For the umpteenth time, I am extremely disappointed with this franchise. What’s the point of them adding 'Friday Night' when it just gets filled with bots? Even 2042 was better than this garbage, haha.

I think almost everyone is who started in the Beta and still see bugs n issues from that almost a year later, Whole game seems made with AI and they did promote that they used it at the time, broken matchmaking, broken gun de-buffs,, per class gun nerfs,  fake bullet velocity's that with how they nerfed them seem to randomly change  speeds etc games just full of issues and stupid ideas that should of been stopped soon as it came out of somone's mouth in a meeting.

MMR or SBMM will not solve your problem, because what you are describing is not a question of skill. The best solution remains community browsers, so like-minded people can play together.

On a separate note, I'm not seeing the horror show you describe. Sure, every match brings its contingent of selfish **bleeps**, but those players are a minority: most play the obj and will use class actions, albeit of course according to their skill (and I will not shame people on not having skill, this is NOT a competitive game). In fact, Tsuru Reef seems to have brought the best out of the player base, the map just requires team play to be efficient.
