AMD Ryzen 7950x3d "slow motion", stuttering and freezing

Bf6 works very well on my machine, usually around 180 fps. However, after some time, like 2 minutes after launching the game (not a new match, but the game itself) the games starts stuttering extremely heavily, where I'm getting around 0-5 FPS and on top of this there is slow-motion-like effect in-game, like, my character can go inside a wall a little bit (short distance tho), and shortly after go back to the place I should be at. Usually it lasts for few seconds and go back to normal, however, is started to be lasting for few minutes, which often ends with game crashing without any error message, error window, anything. I've installed process lasso and during such event, both cpu and gpu usage drops significantly, to like 5-15% and the usage becomes very unstable. I tried to assign only 3D cache cores (0-15 on my CPU) - no success. Moreover, it seems like it happens more often and for much longer period on recently added maps - Cairo Bazaar and Tsuru Reef. Also, during such occurance, there are UI icons with latency issues displayed, frame drops etc. It's been happening since the game launched, but lately it is so bad that I cannot play the game, especially on the new maps. Also tried to install new GPU drivers/clear shaders.

My specs:
GPU: RTX 4090
RAM: 64GB DDR5
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7950x3d
Motherboard: ROG CROSSHAIR X670E HERO
System: Windows 11

I'll try my best to help you firstly we want to see if your having problems with tn or latency issues so go into settings in battlefield and I forgot where it is but there should be something like network graph and see if anything is very high I can't find the setting as my game is currently just updating

  • It's definetely not a network issue if that's what you're implying

ok i think i have found the problem your crash log isn't to big so it should work so what happened was a common DirectX GPU Device Hung crash which is caused by 3 different issues most common being a Unstable Overclock or Under volt but could be a TDR or corrupt dx12 pipeline which basically all means its a simple fix

    1. if you have any undervolt or overclocking in any software most likely ones are msi afterburner and the nvidia app just put it all back to factory
    2. turn off frame gen and ray tracing (i don't know if battlefield has ray tracing but it should)
    3. Press Win + R, type cleanmgr, and select your primary drive. press ok (this clears your dx12 pipeline)

try this if it doesn't work their is something else its just a bit more complex

Okay, thanks, will try 3. point since I don't have any undervolt or overclocking. The only thing I have is EXPO enabled in BIOS - hope it's not the culprit since I don't really want to disable that...

Unfortunately option 3. didn't help. Guess the EXPO mode in bios could be the culprit after all. Still, it shouldn't be happening for AAA game.. guess will try disabling it in not so distant future
