BF6 started crashing out of nowhere!

After spending 110hrs into the game which went flawlessly I started having issues with crashing, it seems random, whatever mode I'm playing at some point it will crash, I would be lucky to finish one round of any game. The crashing started somewhere around season 1 update release....

I have tried everything that I could find online like BIOS update, driver update, reinstall, install on another drive, etc... one suspecious behaviour is that whenever I use the install file verify function on steam it finds 2-3 files to download, sometimes I get an error which I have attached.

I have many other games installed which have no problems whatsoever except for BF6.

The game is unplayable now...

  • The error specifically states GPU issue except no one is posting what GPU they have. first off I run a FE 3090 and have had this issue a few times since this game came out. but my buddy that ran a 1080TI had this issue consistently. Now that Nvidia has stopped supporting the 10 series as of the beginning of October my buddy decided to swap to a 5070. he has not had the issue since. that being said Nvidia has probably broken some of the GPUs with the latest firmware update for this game.

Did that already, made no diffrence. It's pretty hard topin point why it crashes.

This is the only thing that has let me get a full game in since the redsec update hopefully im not jinxing myself here

  • So we can't refund and we can't play. The distant bells of a class action lawsuit echoing in the executive board room.

  • Also happens to me, if you verify files on Steam it'll find 3 files and then verify again and it'll say it's fine then next crash it will say it's missing 3 files again.

This is your issue, the overclock gets done at boot and you most likely put your PC to sleep and it couldn’t access the memory to apply the XMP when it woke the PC up. This happened to me twice. what fixes it is removing my CPU from the socket. It breaks the encryption key in secure boot as there is a miss match imo. Something gets saved on the CPU or chipset and only can be properly fixed by removing CPU and then re seating it. At least you can apply new thermal paste.

I gave up with XMP so no it runs nice. Sucks having 2100’hz DDR4.

nothing else will fix it, fresh install of windows, drivers or game. I could barely finish a game. Many times it would happen on the start of the second map other times I could barely get past splash screen it acts like a memory leak but it’s the secure boot blocking access to memory. Hence ypu might see I/O memory access pop up if you try and do anything after the issue appears.
