Low CPU framerate causing extreme lag in matchmaking servers

Is my CPU just too old?  I'm running an Intel i7-7700, which is above the minimum specs in the BF6 store page, and yet even after upgrading my GPU to an NVIDIA 3050 with 8G of VRAM, I'm still getting 20-30 frames in regular matches.  On lowest graphics settings possible.  This causes extremely slow animations, lots of lag, and an unplayable experience in matchmaking.  Portal servers are better (as I understand due to the lower tickrate), I still get about 40-45 fps average but at least it doesn't feel like I'm swimming in molasses.  I've complained about this before, and no one has found a fix that's worked for me.  Am I just going to have to get a better processor?  I've already upgraded my graphics card, and I don't feel like putting out even more money to replace a CPU that in my opinion should be just fine.  Or is the game just unnecessarily utilizing my CPU over my GPU?  Is there a way to fix this, or do I just need to have top-of-the-line equipment across the board?
