SOCIAL MENU - NOT OPENING
The Social menu where you can invite other people etc. is not opening when I click TAB or when I click on the icons.
I can't play with anyone due to being on steam when they are on EA.

thier releasing an patch update this upcoming tuesday. alot of logs pertaining tot he UI but nothing specific mentioned about the social menu fix see the below link

So I'm on xbox and i had this issue as well. I literally got so mad i cleared my save data from the manage game and add-ons menu for the game on my system. I completely expected it to wipe all my data since i selected the delete everywhere option but not only did it fix the issue of not being able to open my social menu... I still have my in game data! I did have to agree to all the policies and stuff for setting up again but i still have my progress
Same exact issue but on PS5. Pressing R2 does nothing since launch. Tried the ol’ “turning the system off and on again” and reinstalled with no luck. But I can connect with Epic players in Fortnite without issue. Would love if EA prioritized this, it’s pointless to play without people you know.
[PC-FIXED] Battlefield 6 Social Menu Not Opening – Check Windows Defender
I was having the same issue where the Social menu wouldn’t open in Battlefield 6, and none of the invite/join buttons worked. After searching everywhere, I finally figured out the cause and a solution that worked for me.
What happened:
Every time I started Battlefield 6, Windows Defender (Windows Security) would show a warning about a trojan or suspicious file related to the game. I found out this was a false positive, but Defender was blocking something the game needs to make the social menu work.
How I fixed it:
1. Open Windows Security (Defender) and go to "Virus & threat protection" > "Protection history."
2. Look for any recent detections that appeared when starting Battlefield 6.
3. For detections that are related to BF6 or the EA App, click "Actions" and choose "Allow on device" (or "Restore" if it was quarantined).
4. Optional: Add the Battlefield 6 install folder and the EA App folder as an exclusion in Windows Defender, to prevent this from happening again.
5. Restart your PC.
6. Launch Battlefield 6 again. The Social menu started working for me right after this.
Important:
Only allow files if you are sure they are related to Battlefield 6 or the EA App and you know they are safe. If you’re unsure, you can upload the file to VirusTotal or another antivirus scanner before allowing.
Summary:
If your Social menu won’t open, check if Windows Defender is blocking part of the game by mistake. Allowing the blocked item fixed the issue for me!
Hope this helps someone!
It should be mentioned this fix is for PC. PS5 has not been fixed still.
you're right, but is implicity by mentioning "windows defender", I think.
i could fix my problem with
Root cause: The TEMP and TMP environment variables are missing.
Step 1: Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
- Open Start, type cmd, right-click “Command Prompt”, choose “Run as administrator”.
Step 2: Ensure temp folders exist and set the variables. Run these lines one by one:
mkdir "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp" 2>nul
mkdir "C:\Windows\Temp" 2>nul
setx TEMP "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp"
setx TMP "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp"
setx TEMP "C:\Windows\Temp" /M
setx TMP "C:\Windows\Temp" /M
Step 3: Sign out and back in (or reboot).
Step 4: Verify the variables:
echo %TEMP%
echo %TMP%
Both commands should print real paths.
Step 5: Clean up PATH and remove empty entries.
Control Panel -> System -> Advanced system settings -> Environment Variables -> edit PATH.
Remove double semicolons ;; and broken entries (e.g., “C:\Program”).
Added BF folder and EA folder to exceptions and had to check an item for BF6 to be let through the firewall, Still doesn't work. Although I never did get any notification about anything being blocked. I'm about to just harass steam for a refund because I didn't buy this game to play alone and I'm getting really frustrated that EA isn't doing anything to address this.
After so manny tries and comunications with chatgbt, this is the only thing that worked. Thanks a lot!
I was able to fix this with steam by doing the following:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\
I then searched for battlefield
Deleted all those folders
then manually looked through local, locallow, Roaming , and deleted anything related to EA or Electronics Arts
