Bring back full roster customization like it was with NCAA CFB 14

Dear EA Sports Team,

I hope this message finds you well. As a longtime fan and dedicated creator within the EA Sports community, I’m writing to express my sincere request for the return of full roster customization of all teams in College Football 26.

For many of us, roster editing isn’t just a feature — it’s a gateway to storytelling, legacy building, and cultural celebration. The ability to fully customize player names, attributes, appearances, and team compositions allows creators like myself to honor underrepresented legends, spotlight HBCU excellence, and build themed squads that reflect the rich diversity of college football history.

In previous iterations such as NCAA College Football 14, full customization empowered users to:

  • Recreate historic teams and legendary rosters with accuracy and pride
  • Spotlight overlooked athletes and programs, especially from HBCUs and smaller schools
  • Share and collaborate on community-built content that enriched the game’s longevity
  • Express creativity through personalized team identities, bios, and visual branding

With the excitement surrounding CFB 26, I truly hope EA Sports will embrace the spirit of user-driven storytelling by restoring full roster editing capabilities. This feature not only enhances gameplay but also fosters a vibrant, inclusive community of fans who treat the game as a canvas for cultural and historical appreciation.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I’m grateful for the work your team is doing to bring college football back to life, and I hope you’ll continue to support the creators who help make it unforgettable.

  • That is what got them sued and losing the game the first time. They are doing what covers their tails. And I don’t blame them.

No, I believe what got them sued and losing the game the first time was the fact that they were using the image and likeness of the players without compensating them. I respect and understand the NIL agreement. I'm saying we should be able to customize our game and make edits to the players like we can with the madden games. I believe those players also get some sort of stipend. If we cannot change the official roster, then allow us to save an editable or customizable copy. They are programmers and developers. This is not impossible to do. The official roster would still be untouched.

The problem is you are wanting to be able to edit players they have paid NIL too.  Although I think they have overdone their protections such as preventing rating adjustments by the user.  I don't think they can allow you to whatever you want to that player.

However, they could add a third option to the dynasty startup that allowed for you to use a completely randomized roster.  I just have no clue what that would entail for the programming portion on their end.

NIL players who have signed to be in the game should be 100% editable.  However players who chosen to not be in the game must be kept out.  Unfortunately doing that is not simple and would have cause more issues than they want to deal with.

So, actually, I'm not looking to edit the original roster. I would like to be able to create a save roster under a different name and be able to edit THAT roster, not the original one. That one would remain unchanged. The saved roster would have no assigned names and would be fully editable something like NCAA Football 14.

If you can recall, in NCAA CFB 14, you could save a file with random selected names which could be editable and the player fully customizable (height, weight, skin color, equipment, attributes, bio info etc.).

I created legendary all time rosters from editing EVERY position from ALL of the teams, from (Akron to Wisconsin). CFB 26 only allows for 14 or 15 teams to be created and that has to be through the Teambuilder website. I am not looking to create new teams, just to edit them. This is capable with other sports games (including Madden). I believe it is also capable with CFB games.

Won't happen.  It's a different agreement. Recreating real players from a random roster is what led to the game being canned and EA getting sued.  There is no player association that can negotiate for all players collectively.  To mitigate that EA made a blanket deal for all players.  End of story.

This is just not true what so ever. EA was sued for the default roster that THEY created and launched the game with utilizing all likeness minus names. Example. Height, weight, class, skin color, hometown, skills, and then just named them their position plus their number. Example RB#5. Judges found the before mentioned in favor of the suit that EA in fact did use player likeness and bam the game was gone. It never had anything to do what so ever with users creating rosters with player likeness as EA can not and will not be held liable for what people do with their game, if this was the case as you say 2K, MLB the Show, and every other sports game would be sued to oblivion and shut down as well. I can go on 2K right now and download the next 4 years of draft classes with real current college players likeness all the way to their names. This is an excuse I continue to see spread but the reality it’s a cop out for a studio who continues to do the minimum in their games and focus on ultimate team for more cash.

  • That’s never gonna happen because you’re comparing apples (college sports games) to oranges (pro sports games). PLEASE STOP!! The issue is allowing real rosters to be copied, essentially, equates to what got the game canned.

I’m talking about college athletes likeness in both…… has nothing to do with college vs pro. The suit was over player likeness and ea sports benefiting financially without compensating players. Same would go for pro games if Madden, 2K, or the show studios created said draft classes with player likeness without compensation. The whole argument is it has nothing to do with someone with their hands on the game creating players. EA would not be liable. Same principle as if a drunk driver drove a Toyota and ended a life. Toyota is not liable. If Toyota made a drunk automated car they would be liable…how many further analogies do you want on this. I have studied this case specifically during law school lol. I suggest doing looking into the law suit further than you seem to have.
