Cannot upgrade alumni Dallas clark

I can’t use the upgrade tokens on Dallas Clark. When I click the upgrade tab it says find items instead of giving me the option to apply them. He’s stuck on 95 and I have three unused tokens to max him out. Any tips on how to fix this? I’ve tried taking him out of my lineup.
