I've got a new HP Omen 16. I've had Xbox live gold for a while then upgraded to Game Pass Ultimate through the Xbox desktop app. I tried to download EA Play through Xbox desktop but always get "The EA app encountered a problem and couldn't finish installing" message. I've been through multiple answers and nothing is working. I even tried downloading directly from the EA website and I get the same issue. I've look through programs and file and can't find any traces of a previous install program. I've deleted Xbox app and signed out of both Xbox/Microsoft store app multiple times.

I deleted all files/app data regarding any EA, disabled Windows Defender and tried re-downloading EA Play from Game Pass again. Did not work. I ran EAAppInstaller directly from files browser(from “This PC”) as administrator, still did not work.

@ShadowKnight9, that's very strange indeed. Created another local without admin permission and tried to download from EA website with main account permission, this did not work.

hi, i had this same problem. i solved it just now by going into my firewall settings and allowing every application in the EA App folder through my firewall since I didn't know which one was messing it up.Windows Security --> Firewall & network protection --> Allow an app through firewall --> Change settings --> Allow another appthe apps should be in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop

It’s not letting me add this program to the list. I can add EAAppInstaller, but it still doesn’t work.

strange. i added every application in the folder to the list and then cleared the EA App cache to refresh the app.

This is one of the answers I can came across before I made the post, tried the ones relevant to me. I do not have special characters in my name but I tried part 2 of #4 but it didn’t work.

Now that I have been playing with it for awhile I noticed #2 does not look the same for me.
If I type “EADesktop” nothing comes up but if I type
“EA Desktop” only a folder comes up but nothing is in it.
I also do not have “EADesktopInstaller” only “EAAppInstaller”. And I have no options for MSI.
Mayby it is an old version in the answer or maybe it’s because it’s a different region, not sure.

Hey @ShadowKnight9,

The EA Desktop app indeed got renamed to just the 'EA App'. Therefore it's possible that you don't have the EADesktopInstaller file on your PC.
