Battlefield V Download and Access Issue

I bought battlefield V using steam a few years ago, got an origin account and played approximately three hours of the game before I stopped playing for a while. When, decided to redownload the game and play again I first got the new EA app and then attempted to boot it up. Upon booting it up it gave the error message "An incompatible version is on your device. Please uninstall the steam version." I have purged the steam version and all of its files from my computer along with redownloading the ea launcher multiple times, and unlinked my steam account. Yet, I still cannot access the game and the download button is greyed out and inaccessible. What should I do? Any help would be appreciated.

If you originally bought it from steam, then, playing it just through the EA app wont work because it wasn't bought there (I'd assume) and disconnecting the steam account lost its privilege to play it solely through EA app (maybe). Try reconnecting the steam account to your EA account, and then downloading it and see. I'm not an expert but that's just the logic that ran through my head when reading this. if it doesnt work you'll just have to play it through steam
