EA App Bugs : Download Issues [EA Play Pro Game Download]

Product: The EA app
Platform:PC
Error Report ID (learn how to create an Error Report ID in the sticky post) Download Issues/Errors - Jedi Survivor (Help!)
Which client functionality are you experiencing this bug with? Download Game
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) Today
Summarize your bug Hello, I recently decided to subscribe to EA Play Pro mainly to play Jedi Survivor. For almost a week now I have been struggling with a myriad of download issues (most likely related to the EA App) which I NEVER encountered back when I had Origin. To summarize some of these issues: #1- Download abruptly stops after a couple of hours due to an unknown error and you have to manually click resume (I live in a country with slow download speed, so theoretically a massive 130GB game like Jedi Survivor would take between 70-80 hrs of download time). I always try to download all of my games at night (best speed + laptop not used for work). With Jedi Survivor this has been a real struggle. #2-After reaching 80Gb+ of downloaded game data (around 65%), pausing the download and resuming it at a later time would inexplicably bring it back to 70GB (55%), which is absolutely baffling. Where did those 10 GB of downloaded game data go? This has happened three times now (twice back when the download progress was at 40%, pausing the download at 40% would inexplicably bring it back to 33%) #3!!!-Today was the final straw. Last night before going to bed the game had reached 75GB (again). When I woke up today the download was paused for some reason due to some unknown error, the downloaded game data 71.1GB, and clicking on resume would lead to a never endling loop of preparing/checking/downloading (for 2 seconds)/then preparing again. Restarting the PC didn't work. Checking online, the only solution that came up was clearing the cache for the app. Which I did. But when I relaunched the app I noticed that there was nothing in the download manager. Is there a way for the app to recognize/verify the files downloaded so far? Origin had that, but don't know how to do it in the EA App. Please help, I really don't want to re-download those 70 GBs, not when it's likely that I will encounter the same issues/bugs again. I have already wasted a week of my subscription, if this continues I am definitely canceling my EA Play Pro subs next month (truly a nightmarish experience).
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? For bug #3 Try to download a game, pause, clear cache files for the app, then try to relaunch the EA app and have the downloaded files recognized in download manager.
What happens when the bug occurs? For each of the 3 bugs listed above in the summary: (#3 is the most important to address in my case atm) 1- Download stops due to an unknown error, and can only be resumed by manually clicking on "Resume" button 2- Download inexplicably loses downloaded data sometimes, relaunching the download with a lower downloaded percentage and data (Example goes from 60% to 53% after pausing download and resuming a couple of hours later) 3-Download stopped, enters a never ending loop of preparing/checking/downloading/preparing etc..
What do you expect to see? -EA App recognizing the files it downloaded already for the game, and not to having to redownload Evrything from scratch. Or -An extension of the EA play pro subscription if the error persists (In order to have time to redownload the game, since the download was prevented by issues related to the EA App. I don't see how it is fair to pay for a monthly subscription and not being able to download/play games during that period)

Please help/reply as soon as possible. I have provided everything related to the bugs I encountered in the fields above.

Thanks in advance.

    Hey,

I gave up. That's the short answer. I tried downloading the game for a third time 2 days ago, and after reaching 35% the download progress was brought back to 5% due to an error with the EA app. I literally tried everything. It's worth mentioning that I am only encountering download problems with the EA App and not other game launchers (like Steam and Epic Games).

I seriously regret giving EA Play Pro a go at this point in time (with the current state of the EA App). It presented itself as the cheaper alternative to playing Jedi Survivor on PC (and other upcoming major releases). But it's just not worth it. I literally have wasted the first two weeks of my subscription trying to download a game. Not to mention the amount of stress and frustration these unknown "errors" have caused when you get home to find days of download progress lost and you have to try again from scratch. I tried contacting customer support, posting multiple times on EA Answers HQ, no one answered, no one cares! (or no one knows, which is worse) which only added to the frustration.

I don't think I'll have enough time to finish the download (provided I could get it to finish) and play the game with the time I have left. And seeing the care I was given when I first sought help, I really don't expect EA to make it right and extend my subs time for a week or two. So I will definitely be canceling my subs at the end of this month.

Longtime Origin Member and fan of EA titles truly shocked and disappointed.

We deserve a better service, a better support and a working App!

@Skyrimfall I completely understand where you are coming from. These issues can get frustrating for sure. It is unfortunate that it happened this way as we definitely want players enjoying the games they are excited for. If you change your mind and would like help with it, let us know. We have quite a few players like myself who would be willing to try and help you out with this!

My friend who had played the game when it first came out via EA Play Pro still had the original game files from April.

I copied those files on my PC hoping it would recognize them (or that at least it would it would save me from having to redownload everything again from scratch by only downloading the Patches that were released since then for the game). The download progress jumped to 70% at once (Which was promising), and was "preparing" 37.46GB for the next 15 mins or so, the progress slowly moving to 100%. Then after reaching 100%, the download progress started again from scratch: 0/ 129GB completely ignoring the game files and the size of the game on the HDD doubling.

@Skyrimfall It sounds like its getting hung at a certain point and then just starting all over. With that something like the below typically help. That is honestly hard to say why when it reverts other than from experience, there are conflicting files so it starts over.

    Delete Windows Temp Files

    • First, make sure you close as many programs as you can
    • Press the Windows key + R, go into the file explorer
    • Type in %temp%, and hit Enter
    • Delete everything it allows you to delete
    • Reboot the PC

    Optional Registry clean-up

    • install CCleaner (it's free) from here
    • Run Registry cleaner
    • Click review selected issues
    • Do you want to back up? No
    • Click Fix all selected issues

It is worth mentioning that he originally downloaded those game files from Steam.

And if I put the game files in the EA app's default location for Downloads, I would get

Jedi Survivor in my collection greyed out (cannot be launched or downloaded) with the following error message:

"An incompatible version of this game is installed on your device. Uninstall the Steam version to launch the game."

If I try to directly launch the game using the exe I will get the following error message : "You don't have access. This title may have been downloaded to your device by another user who owns the game. Log in to a different account or restart the app to try again."
