@4997a0ababa2ca0bTech support has been taken over by a bunch of gumbas who don't know anything either. Starting to hate this country. They're screwing us BIG TIME! I've been down for weeks now and nobody in India cares.I have a lot going on and don't have time to tally up all the products I own from here, submit a different kind of complaint elsewhere and get my money back. Doesn't even do any good to repurchase everything from Steam. It's using that blasted broken app as well. We need to be able to go back to Origin, but they ruined that too. The minute you try, the server immediately tries to switch you to the EA app. 🤨
EA Help suggest 1. Try sfc /scannow (in a command window) and 2. Try dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth 3. Try a clean boot.
This didn't work for me but working through my issue what did eventually work was:
1. safe boot with networking 2. run sfc 3 run dism.
I suspect that a clean boot and then running sfc and dism would also work whilst in a clean boot would also work. (If not you could try safe mode).
- KingRayVeteran3 years agoNew Veteran@4997a0ababa2ca0b Whatever you're talking about seems to depend on the operating system. Never heard of DISM, and my computer can't do clean boot; can only do safe mode. Do what ... when? Definitely not a clear answer to anything. Are you trying to install EA App, or just run it? I got the dangon thing installed, but it won't run because of whatever error 500 is. Tech support reps get really rude and start telling you to contact Microsoft. For what? A game problem? Are they crazy or insane?

I don't know why EA is now requiring for me to download their app for origin. I was able to play my games before, but now I can't even get to them because of the EA app overlay that is blocking my access to my origin games. I have tried every solution here. I have created 2 more user profiles & did get one of them to work for awhile, but now it won't work. I have tried to put that extra line in the local.xml file, but that doesn't work either. I have tried installing an older version of Origin, but that doesn't show any of my games. I have tweeted EA about the problem, but I don't expect they will come up with a solution. This is totally frustrating & whoever put this crap out ought to be fired. And I can't believe that EA hasn't done anything about this problem since there are so many people having the same installation issues.

@bbacle777It's a replacement for Origin. I don't know why they had to go and do this either. Definitely a piece of crap, and don't contact tech support. They'll just waste your time and they haven't a clue what's going on. They need to reel tech support in and back to the U.S. I really can't stand that most companies in the U.S. have done that. We paid a lot of money for 0 support now.

@KingRayVeteran I was keeping the answer short to avoid trying to provide a more detailed answer for all versions of Windows that EA-Help folks seem to have covered that and I assumed you may already have tried it. And I am not tech support etc/
No idea whether clean boot is an option on earlier Windows versions but safe mode is - and its what I did - so:
1. start your PC in safe mode with networking
2. if you don't already have a cable connected to your router you will need to connect one to get access to the internet
3 In the search area type cmd Search on all files. cmd which is short for command / command prompt
4. Press enter and something called cmd should come up If not search on the internet on how to run cmd for your version of Windows)
5. Right click on the search result and from the drop down options that appear select "Run as Administrator"
6 a small black screen will open on your computer
7 type sfc /scannow
8. Press enter
You should have something like c:\users\yourusername sfc /scannow or maybe c:\ sfc /scannow
(In Windows 11 its the yourusername one in Windows 11 but I don't know about other versions)
sfc stands for System File Checker and is designed to repair corrupt operating system files
9. Type dism /online /cleanup-image /online /restorehealth
10. Press enter
Again for Windows 11 its the c:\users\yourusername not sure about other versions
dism stands for deployment image servicing and management. Basically it will check your files against an online "good" copy and fix anything that needs fixing.
11. Try to install the EA App in safe mode
This is what worked for me. I ended up in safe mode because I had an error, tried all the suggested fixes and it was something else to try basically. And I got past the error I had and got a different error. Did some other stuff and got further still. Then the next night I was trying again and it worked. And whn I thought about what I had done differently it was running sfc and dism whilst in safe mode. I had already run them in normal mode, reinstalled all sorts of files as mentioned in numerous threads etc.
Sorry if I can't be more precise. Been a while since I used older versions of Windows. There are search results about running these however. I have posted this in Feedback in the hope that EA-Help can maybe test or put this into a more expansive message. As I said there current suggestion is sfc, dism then clean boot (sort of safe mode) all of which I tried but to no avail.
Now you seem to have managed - ? - to install the app so maybe this is no good for you. I couldn't install the app but after the above I could and all games are running fine.

@4997a0ababa2ca0byes, that's specific enough. I did some of that, but not all. Plus, going into safe mode on my 9-year-old computer is a task and a half. You wouldn't believe this bios; it's a pain. Basically, I have to switch my monitor & keyboard, and take my USB PCI-Express card out.
I know ... strange. But to do all this is mind boggling, and I have other problems on this thing to solve. I hate that I have to use that blasted thing at all, because it's been in the way since Origin was introduced. I didn't need them with single-player games.
I don't remember how I got EA App installed, but it won't play anything. Always error 500 on everything I try to do. And it wants to reinstall games + has EA Play in place of games I have installed. It's just a mess.
