EA APP Settings Not Saving Changes

Every time I restart my computer, the EA App turns back on its overlay, and removes all my launch options from my game (Apex Legends)
Please find a way to make these settings changes permanent, as going back into the app settings every time I need to launch a game seriously takes away from the app's functionality.

    Hi @KevReborn,

The fact that the EA app consistently reverts your settings after restarting your PC is not the intended behaviour, and I have not been able to replicate this issue. To address this, I recommend performing a complete reinstallation of the EA app. You can use third-party software like Revo Uninstaller Free Version, which has been shown to be more effective than the default Windows uninstallation procedure. However, please note that using Revo Uninstaller is at your own risk. It is important to ensure that no files are left behind during the uninstallation process.

After rebooting your PC, download and install a fresh copy of the EA app (link) to see if the issue persists. If you continue to experience this problem, please generate an EA app Error Reporter ID and share it here so our team can investigate this unusual behaviour.

    Thank you.

Summarize your bug EA App 'in game overlay' causes issues when running some games, such as Star Wars Battlefront II - this makes the cursor get stuck on screen and, until disabled, prevents you from being able to turn around or play the game properly. Furthermore the setting turns itself back on frequently automatically, meaning you often have to close the game, turn it off again, and load back in to be able to play. Please prevent auto-turn on of this feature until/unless the aforementioned bug is resolved.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1. Enable in-app overlay. 2. Launch 'Star Wars Battlefront II'. 3. Note the windows cursor is used instead of the in game one - launch any single player mission. 4. Attempt to turn around 360 degrees - note the cursor is on the screen in addition to the reticle, and will prevent you from turning further when the cursor gets to the edge of the screen or window (if running in windowed mode).
What happens when the bug occurs? The player is unable to turn around or aim properly, and the cursor is distracting. It prevents being able to play the shooter until the option is manually turned off, and requires regular manual disabling of it when it keeps turning itself back on.
What do you expect to see? I expect for it to preserve my option to keep the in-game overlay disabled until the issue is resolved. Once resolved I expect having in game overlay should not keep a cursor over the top of the screen.

  • Hi Leeuw,

I have tried your suggestions, and my settings are still reverting.

Your hyperlinked "here" is not working, where am I supposed to share this issue?

    Thanks

Summarize your bug I disable the In-game overlay of the app but every time the app updates it is re-enabled. I also noticed the Usage-sharing setting also re-enables after the app updates but this does at least not interfere with my game.

What happens when the bug occurs? if I launch the Sims 3 with the overlay enabled all my store content will be missing basically the BUG is that my settings reset after a update to the app
What do you expect to see? I expect that this issue will be fixed so the settings don't reset after a update to the app. I do not expect you to solve the problem with the sims 3 specifically, only that the app stops resetting my settings.

This is a problem because the overlay causes problems with the Sims 3 launcher and breaks the store content. a quick google search will show this is a very normal problem for Sims 3 players.

if you wanna investigate the sims 3 problem specifically this is how it's noticed most clearly:

with the overlay enabled, open the sims 3 launcher and try to install store content, the window for the download will open but after a while it will finish with the massage "the are no packages to install"
then close the launcher and turn off the overlay and try again, it will now install the store content successfully

because the Sims 3 is old I understand that this issue is not a priority, therefor I only ask you to fix the problem with the settings resetting, thanks 🙂

  • Just want to add to this bug report. For me this has been happening for almost a year, and is still happening today (May 11, 2024). I'm a patient person so I just waited for the 'eventual' fix. With the arrival of Season 21 of Apex, I think something just broke inside me, I don't want to keep typing my launch commands and disabling overlay every single day just because I like to do the normal thing and shutdown my pc at the end of the day.

Worst part of this bug is that some days after a restart it somehow just chooses to remember the settings, although this the intended behaviour it rarely happens. (99% forgets settings | 1% remembers settings).

Today I used the EA Error Reporter, hopefully it does something.

This has been an issue for a long time.

EA does not appear to respect or care about user settings reagarding this.

    Should be an EU complaint.

A giant fine by them would sort it !
