EA App zeroed play time in relatively old games

Product: The EA app
Platform:PC

Which client functionality are you experiencing this bug with? Game Hub
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 26.11.2023 20:39
Summarize your bug The app zeroed my playtime and the last launch date for DAO (mostly), DA2, ME, ME2, ME:LE, and The Sims 3. ME3, ME:A, and DA:I miss only the last launch date. The Sims 4 is fine.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I'm not sure if this bug can be reproduced intentionally. But something happened with the app or the servers between June 4 and November 27.
What happens when the bug occurs? I feel pain for 600 hours now lost in my beloved DAO.
What do you expect to see? My play time progress back.

Hey there.

So, I've noticed about two weeks ago, during the sale, that the EA app has reset my play time and the last launch date in some selected games:

  • Dragon Age: Origins
  • Dragon Age II
  • Mass Effect
  • Mass Effect 2
  • Mass Effect Legendary

ME3, Andromeda, and Inquisition are fine with play time, though they are missing the last launch time. Moreover, DAO seems to have counted 40 hours from somewhere and knows when I last played it. Probably because I played it this summer. But I would have noticed if I launched the game with zero on the timer, for it had about 600 hours before that - luckily, I record all my progress on hltb. The Sims 4 wasn't affected, probably because I play it on a regular basis. So that happened sometime between June 4 and November 27.

And I'm pretty sure the time was synchronized correctly at the beginning of use of EA Desktop, which was right when it was officially released.

So, I'm not really sure now that it's a temporary bug in any way, like with the missing games in the library at the app's first launch, so should I say goodbye to those hours? I submitted a bug report two weeks ago, but I've never been contacted back.

@Sanctuss54 I would gladly accept this reply as the solution, but yeah... there's always hope. And you have my sincere gratitude. Now at least I can go play without a heavy heart.

@losterkun I also have the same problem as you do. But I don't know what to do ☹️
But I know one thing for sure that I'll preorder DATV on Steam to prevent this from happening again

@momotaro818 same, dear, same ☹️ And I understand it's like fighting a dog with meat, but I'll re-buy DA2 and even DAI there. At least they won't lose my honestly sat up hours. Yeah, paying for trustworthy service (and good games for the second time)...

Hello. I have had the same exact problem and I bought the game through steam, so buying from there doesn't prevent this issue. When you buy DAI through steam you have to connect your steam account with EA. Though you open the game through steam EA verifies if you're logged into your EA account or you can't launch it. EA whiped the safe file I had spent 110 hours on (another one survived somehow). Steam has my correct hours (at 128) while EA insists it's only at 3 minutes, even though I have another safe file that survived and is at 16 minutes. I'm devastated.

    Have this issue too ☹️

    Dead Space 2008 - I had 23 hours now I have 14 minutes

    Dead Space 2 - I hade 57 hours

Dead Space Remake - I've beaten the game twice and had 23 hours, now I have 3

    C&C 3 - had over 30 hours

Red Alert 3 - Had 20 something hours

    Support has been useless

@ChrisChilde Hey. In my case, it affected purchases on both Origin and Steam. Steam remembers 100 hours spent in Mass Effect LE, and EA App forgot it (and all those synced achievements are just a miracle). So yeah, no difference. So, my brother (or sister) in devastation, try to find solace in the fact that at least one launcher knows your accomplishments.
