EA/Origin SUCKS

I have had an origin account for a little over 15 years, I started with The Sims 2 and just recent bought The Sims 4 High School years. I have not had access to my account for over a year. I have not gotten any real help with the issue. I am seriously thinking about seeking legal action I have spent over $500 dollars and years of gameplay and none of my issues have been resolved. This new platform is awful They have had so many bugs and issues, and the system has gotten worse instead of better.

  • For me at least the app works as it should now. Another update, total app re-install may, but probably wont' help.

I understand your frustration. Worst case I'v heard, I would be equally furious.

There is one thing that may be responsible for this. I doubt it but it's worth putting out there.

It's the game. The Sims 2. It seems a lot of people have had problems with that particular game, all sorts of stuff, some of it would be relevant to your huge issue, although no idea if it helps.

If you have any other games on the EA App. Especially something not carried over from origin. It should work. If not then your problem is exactly as you describe - and I would share your sentiments.

15years ago is a while, and there were transition hiccups. Plus The Sims 2 seems to have a variety of issues. If that's your only game on EA_App, after everything you have done so far I doubt you'll solve it without EA direct help, which you should get.

Edit: Silly me. You recently bought The Sims 4. I haven't looked in the Sims 4 thread, but it's the same line of games.

Also you have no access to your account, although you recently bought Sims 4. That should not be the case. And EA_Support, need to assist, you. That's going by what you have written. Could be something else security related, but still, it absolutely should be given attention and solved by EA.

    Hi KindaPanda4196,

I'm sorry to hear you've been having problems with the EA app. What exactly is happening when you're trying to access it?

  • Woops, seems like I need not have posted. EA_cuervo is on the case, and can probably actually help as long as detailed answers to his questions are provided.

Hey GawgPorkChop, don't worry about that. If a CM answers a player, you can always participate in the conversation and provide your input! We appreciate that!

It certainly does! I haven't been able to play BF4 for literal years because the EA App/Origin has consistently failed to work, and they never do anything. I sincerely cannot think of a worse gaming company.

What error message am I getting? NONE! Because the awful EA app doesn't provide any. It attempts to launch Battlefield 4, opens a "preparing game" window, then crashes and restarts itself... CONSTANTLY. This will never stop without manually closing the programs and preventing them from running any arguments. Just stupid.

What have I tried? What HAVEN'T I tried???? I've restarted my PC, reinstalled the game, reinstalled steam, reinstalled the EA app (including any residual files), I've tried updating Punkbuster, I've tried a fresh install of Windows, I've tried running as administrator. Don't bother asking me if I've verified the file integrity. What's next? Buy it again?

Lol just fixed it myself. Turns out the reason nothing worked is because the EA app shortcut DOESN'T launch EA - it launches a useless launcher, that THEN launches the EA Desktop App! So running the EA APP in admin does NOTHING! You need to either MANUALLY EDIT THE SHORTCUT SO IT ACTUALLY TARGETS THE EA APP, or manually launch EA Desktop in admin every time! Either way, the steam release DOES NOT WORK and I am forced to do a workaround every time no matter what.

I reiterate: sincerely, the worst gaming company I can possibly think of. Thanks for nothing.

That's so basic. I've never heard of anyone not knowing that before. You ranted, fair enough if EA was at fault. But this is on you. PC literacy.

    2. Linking clients can cause problems, That's real. I stopped linking clients years ago. Since then not a single issue - at all. That's a very stable app. It EA app is required, why add unnecessary complications by starting with Steam.

lt's simple. Buy a Steam game on Steam that's Eula doesn' t include, something like "you agree to sign in to a third party app."

    Lauch Steam. Press play. Play.

If it's published by EA. shut down Steam. Purchase directly from EA. The price is set by EA, so no loss.

Launch EA app. Press play. Play.

    Epic. Same thing.

Having two clients running for ONE game is asking for trouble. The whole idea of linking accounts makes sense for friends etc. Plus it's likely to help sales. That's what businesses do. It not in the interest to complicate and cause clashes between competitor game launchers, even if they have an agreement. I had a few problems when linking Steam to EA and vica versa. After I put a stop to that I am very happy with the light weight EA app. Sure, Steam is the gold standard, unless you start messing around linking launchers for the same (one) game.

You said LOL. I agree. The laugh is on you. Such dramatic strong offensive attacks are not going to get any EA rep to help you. Especially when the error is simple basic and on you.

You brought this all one yourself. Hopefully you will remember what you have learn't.

    Happy gaming! 😁

Edit. I just re-read your first paragraph. Everything before, "either way steam......" show you didn't have a clue.  Now you do, and can hopefully enjoy gaming.

Good luck. Flame me back if you want. It's water off a ducks back for me, but it will just go to show childish immaturity. Say nothing, or just say, Ok got now. Make light of it. Not the end of the world and you have solved it. Problem solved.
