Mac EA app - Sims 4 Language Defaults to Czech After Migration (2024)

I'm encountering a similar issue but with Russian and Czech languages. I'm using the Mac OS version, and my system language is set to Russian, including OS, Origin, EA App, and Sims 4, all in Russian. In my game version, I have Czech, Polish, and Russian languages available.

Previously, everything worked fine on Origin, but after transitioning to the EA App, Sims 4 stopped launching and displayed an installation error. After performing a restore, the game launched but in Czech language. I've reinstalled the 65 GB game several times. Once it ran correctly in Russian after reinstalling, but subsequent attempts to launch resulted in the same installation error.

The most critical issue seems to be that after each restore, the game defaults to Czech language (possibly because Czech is listed first among the languages). It appears that the restore process does not consider the language setting during installation.

Please investigate how localization settings are handled during the restore process. This is a critical issue for me as I am unable to play in Czech; I only understand Russian and English.

  • Hello,

The basic game is in preferred language, however when I install the packs it changes the language

  • Hello! I wanted to play Sims 4 on Origin then it said I needed to change to EA. I did it and started the game it said the game might be uninstalled or smth so I should repair it, i did it then i entered the game it was i Czech language, i tried to translate it as it was in origin but SADLY, EA doesn't have this so i looked up ad found that you should uninstall whole game and download again(I did 3 times). After I opened it same thing said I needed to repair and then after I opened the game again in CZECH. Can you do smith I almost have every pack (67) and adds-on of sims 4.

    Hello!

    I discovered the following details:

    1. I deleted The Sims 4 game but did not delete the Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4 folder.
    2. I opened the EA app and chose the Download option.
    3. I selected the Russian language from the drop-down menu in the language settings on the download page (there were Russian, Polish, and Czech options).
    4. I downloaded and installed only the base game without any DLC.
    5. I started the game, and it launched correctly in Russian.
    6. I exited the game and the EA app.
    7. A few days later, I tried to launch the game again and got an installation error. Error message told that the game is not installed and suggested to restore (repair).
    8. I restored (repaired) the game (still only the base game without DLC).
    9. I launched the game, and it started in Czech.

Additionally, I realized that my account has three versions of the base game because I launched The Sims 4 from different locations during my travels. I bought the Russian version many years ago, which had only Russian, Polish, and Czech language options. Recently, the European and British versions were automatically added to my EA account at no cost (since the base game is now free). These new versions have new language options, including English. However, I cannot choose the English language when I install the game, even though I am in the UK now.

The same happened to me. But the game doesn't work on my MacBook with M1 Pro processor.

I installed it on MacBook M3 Max - the game is “clear” and everything is in Chezh, though I chose another language, and deleted it and installed it twice!

I've found similar issues for players 1 year ago, and support specialist asked to generate Error Reports (EA app -> Help -> EA Error Reporter).

Hopefully, it will help to get a solution.

I’ve got report codes for the 2 devices:

  • Hi, Have you received any suggestions or help on how to fix this? It seems players have been submitting reports on this complaint for months but I cannot see any positive feedback not anyone mentioning that it has been resolved.... The only EA reply was that they "are working on it"... but I can't see any results of this work so far ☹️

  • Hey has there been any progress on this being resolved?
I had this issue when first moving from Origin to EA App, managed to fix it by going back to Origin and then making the transfer to EA App again.

It's now happened again after purchasing the Love Struck pack, which I purchased through CD Keys (not had an issue with them before). Unable to do the previous fix as Origin is no longer available. I've installed the game and EA App multiple times now, no changed.

I just want to play the game in English which I've done since Sims 4 came out. So frustrating! 😢

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

Unfortunately it seems there's no progress at all... However, if you download it from Stream you have the option to choose ANY language you want, English included as well 🙂 the EA support is absolutely useless in this matter, so there's no point to even contact them (I know it's not their fault that this problem persists but they can't even advise you to use a different platform for downloading so I came across this solution by chance). Hope you'll manage to get it from Steam, it's also free to download there 🙂

  • I'm on Mac so can't play it through Steam unfortunately but thank you for the advice!

Hopefully there is a resolution soon 🙂 Guess I'll just go back to Sims 2 for now lol

I've emailed support so if I get a helpful response I'll update here too

  • I have submitted a similar issue months ago: install the game in French, but game is in English (I live in the UK). I relate to all the play arounds people have described above (customer support, universal version, works once in the right language, but then an error again, etc). In my case, what I can say is that I have tested my game versions on a PC, and everything is fine!!!! So I would love people to stop suggesting that we have region locked games, because this is not the case. This is a Mac specific issue, and it is even an Mac EA App specific issue, as it wasn't happening on Origin before either.

I am really angry at EA. I have spent HUNDREDS of euros/pounds for that game, and I would like to feel heard, as it doesn't seems to be the case. And I know I am not the only one in that situation... I will not buy any other EA game before the EA App for Mac is fixed.

EA has to fix the EA App for Mac.

Hey! I have made a several loops and circles of hell around support systems. In the end I couldn't resolve the issue myself - EA agent changed the language to English REMOTELY in 5 mins and I only needed to reload the game. My original game was not in English though, but it's not in Czech at least.

I tried to find WHERE exactly was this support ticket - and it's impossible to track.
