Today (3/24/23) was supposedly a new patch update for the Sims 4, in order to temporarily disable a bugged feature. The game requires an update, and you can't play without updating. However, when pressing update, then continue, nothing happens, no loading, no updating, and thus I can't play the game. It's really frustrating and I don't know what to do short of uninstalling the game entirely (which I haven't tried nor do I want to, in case that also doesn't download back)! I have had no other issues, not even any issues with the new pack itself (though the bug that is mentioned won't happen for the family I'm playing on it for awhile).
Specs: Windows 11, 64 bit operating system
Packs: All expansions, most game packs (no vampires, werewolves, or batuu), most stuff packs (no first pet), half the kits
CC and mods: yes
This is kind of two problems, first of all, the game told me there was a new update required but it wouldn't do anything when I clicked install (I tried multiple times and waited several minutes), so I looked up online what to do and saw someone saying repair the game, so I did. It's been over three hours and it's still repairing. There's no "finalizing" screen or percentage saying how much it's done, or a timer saying how long is left, it just says "repairing".
I am on a Windows 10 laptop.

Same here. I've tried everything. Nothing wrong with my broadband as I can download other things with no issues. Grr...
Edit: It took close to 3 hours for the game to update. EA really needs to do something about their servers. - BylineBelife3 years agoSeasoned Ace
Same here. EA´s servers once again don't seem to handle any kind of game updates to Sims4 without crashing.
This happened to me yesterday, I had the same issue with it saying there was an update. It did finish eventually.
How did you end up getting it to update? I know it took 3 hours but I can’t even get it past calculating the time

I quit the update when it just hanged around and checked my broadband connection and it was just fine. Tried to download a few things to make sure, like updating my drivers.
Restarted my computer and tried again, and just let it work. At a snails pace, it finally managed to download and install the tiny patch. I fear for what will happen once they release something big again. Kabooom! - BylineBelife3 years agoSeasoned Ace@33Rapture Yeah, mine too. But it took a good three hours to do so at max speed and with a flawless broadband.
I’m sorry but what do you mean by drivers? This is why I will always prefer origin I had no problems with it and as soon as I had to switch to ea I’ve had problems
Nearly 24 hours later, and my EA app had to crash, restart, and then come back up before the update would happen, which thankfully it did quite quickly. (I had tried repairing but that also did nothing....)
