PC EA app - "The app crashed unexpectedly" or "Background Services Crashed"

Hi everyone,

A new update, v13.188, has been released for the EA app on Windows. This update seems to include a fix for the "The app crashed unexpectedly" or "Background Services Crashed" error on the Windows EA app. Make sure your EA app is up-to-date or check if an update is waiting to be installed.

The EA app usually updates itself periodically during startup. This is true for both Windows and Mac. However, Windows users also have the option to manually update the client. You can do this by following the provided steps here.

    Summarize your bug After logging into the EA App, the app opens to the hub screen for a few seconds before crashing and displaying a dialog saying "The app crashed unexpectedly". The cycle repeats if I click on the restart app button in the dialog.
    How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
    Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Open the app, log in (if not already) and wait a couple seconds for it to inevitably crash.
    What happens when the bug occurs? The app crashes and displays a dialog saying "The app crashed unexpectedly"
    What do you expect to see? The app should not crash and I should be able to play games I have purchased.

    This has been going on for about a week now. The newest updated version of the app was said to fix this issue but it hasn't for me.

    The post you linked me has absolutely nothing to do with the problem I am experiencing, or do you intend me to read the 79 pages to see if anything sticks?

    What it says, downloaded the EA app since not opening origin for a couple of years, Ea app deleted origin y installed itself, and now when I try to log in the app just crashes.

    @Serabee Did you mange to solve your problem. I tried many times and reinstall the app but don't work. IF you can please help me

    So I think I figured it out for me. See if this works for you.

    In the search bar I typed " Add or remove programs"

    Fine EA app.

    Then click it and I had the option to uninstall or repair. I clicked repair , it did its thing , then it worked. 

    Let me know if it works for anyone.!
