Re: EA App installation, "Something Went Wrong" error

I literally just fixed mine today. Thank Goodness!!! The fix that worked for me is

I created a new user on my pc as an admin. logged out of my original account and logged into the new user, downloaded EA App and installed. After installation was successful, I logged out of the new user and back into my original account and was able to open EA App, sign-in. Note, I had to create 3 user accounts before I got it to install. I did not add any password to the users just made them admin account. I hope this works for everyone else. I did not have to do anything extra but see which admin account it would install under as I believe it's something in the background stopping EA from installing on EA known device accounts. You will also have to reinstall all of your games as well. This is some BS but happy to have it installed.

it has been weeks now, is there any solution to this problem??? how are they launching an app that does not even work properly? hello EA im so frustrated

  • I've tried literally everything in this thread including this and it gets most of the way done and starts rolling back, then says application had to end prematurely so im still no further forward. I sent ea info on this via email and they responded with what game was i trying to install, Like read the damn email and youll find out its nothing to do with a game. Then they marked it as fixed and solved literally minutes after replying to me, All whilst happy to take money out my bank account for a sub i cant even use.

The same here from Berlin. Windows 10 64 bit, EA Desktop App reports "Something went wrong" during installation. No tip here helps. Not even repairing the MS Visual C++ installations. And going back to Origin is not possible. Can't understand how EA forces their game buyers to use this new app first and then doesn't work on solving the problems. Outrageous.

@Pankow_Berlin Ea have sadly been one of the solid jokes in the gaming world for years, When i did finally get a response from them it wasn't even relevant to anything i had sent them. Just shows you, Admins don't seem to mind, Ea don't seem to mind so yeah, I'll have to sort it with my card issuer to get the money back.

1.) A workaround that helped me: Install EA Desktop on another PC, or have someone send the files from "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop" where the app works.
2.) Start Powershell and add the EA services with the following two commands:
    New-Service -Name "EABackgroundService" -BinaryPathName "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop\EABackgroundService.exe"

    New-Service -Name "EAAntiCheatService" -BinaryPathName "C:\Program Files\EA\AC\eaanticheat.gameservice.exe"

3.) The hardest part. On the computer where the EA app works, use the registry editor to search for and export the entries that are related to "EA App" and in my case to Fifa 23, i.e. "Fifa".
Then import the exported entries into the registry, where the EA app cannot be installed.

This is how it worked for me. The game then has to be downloaded completely again, but the EA app starts and everything is there. An update of the EA app is still not possible.

I would also provide the installed EA app and registry entries (which still need to be customized), but I don't think that's possible due to copyright regulations. sorry

@DeathDances My mom was having this issue with her account as she was pushed over to the app today and this solution worked for her, and now it installed as it should. Thank you!

the amount of people with this problem for this long is ridiculous. i have same problem, it wont install on my new generation pc i bought specially for gaming but works fine on my laptop. fix ur damn app smh

  • its been 2 months for me without being able to even download their app despite following every tutorial available to fix it. I'm at the point where I'm about to just buy a new pc because i can't access ANY of the games ive spent so much money and time on . its so incredibly frustrating that EA prices things so high then can't even make the games run . I don't understand why they moved away from origin, they broke something that didnt need fixing !!

@superMateuszix lucky for you. I still can't get past error 500 and whoever is manning tech support these days is doing nothing. Asking me what my email address is when it's clear they've been communicating with me using that email address? SMH

    All,

.net framework 4.6.1 is a minimum requirement for EA App on windows 7, but 4.8 will also install on windows 7 sp1 and resolve installation issues.

    ChatGPT says:
The EA App requires .NET Framework 4.6.1 or later to be installed on the system.

@brian_m_286 Ummm, I have 4.8.x .Net Framework, Windows 7, Sp1, 64-bit and that must not be true. I did get it installed, only to run smack into error 500 trying to do ANYTHING with that app.

@axammm  No it doesn't. I got it to install, but the app can't see a thing, so it won't play a thing. Not one single game. I saw it briefly because they're messing with that app, but it wanted to download all my expansions, stuff packs, and what's the other one? Anyway, it got stuck wanting to download gigabytes of files and went back to seeing nothing at all. It has no memory that The Sims 4 is already installed and doesn't need reinstalling. Besides, I have some customization in the game files that shouldn't be undone. This is a disaster. Oh, I'm talking about the ProgramFiles folder unless I'm thinking about The Sims 3. I may have added nothing to the files in The Sims 4 folders. I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit.

  • I tried using the link you provided and I thought for a minute it was going to work. Unfortunately it states it will only work for Windows 8 or above. I have windows 7. I'm not computer savvy enough to know how to get any further.

I can tell you this for certain @RebeccaMcShane EA said they will not support EA app towards the end of this year if you're on Windows 7. Other software companies are saying the same. I think they disabled it, or let it go, sooner than the end of the year. That's why it would never work, and nobody said directly that they wouldn't solve anything if it stepped on Windows 7. Time to upgrade to Windows 10 and good luck with that too. My computer drags with this game because of the upgrade, but it's older and big-tech doesn't care ... they want us to buy newer computers with faster motherboards, video cards, etc. Capitalism at its finest (or worst). I fulfill all the requirements, but barely ... even with 32GB of ram.
