Re: PC EA app - "The app crashed unexpectedly" or "Background Services Crashed"

I posted to this thread earlier, but here is a 2nd post with requested details.

Windows PC: Tried with both Win11 and Win10. Yes, I actually reinstalled windows and tried installing this app on a fresh copy of the OS.

Timestamp when the issue first occurred (date/time): 19 Apr, ~1700 UTC (2230 in my timezone, 7 days ago)

When does the error occur: opening the EA app

What is the current version of your EA app (check here on how to see this): N/A since crashing at launch. Another user in a different thread reported it as 13.180.0-5693-4d69cf940. CANNOT confirm since my own version cannot be verified

*Edit: if you can't open the client, you can't check this. That's okay!

Please share an EA app Error Reporter ID here in the thread: 01b26996-85e0-45e0-8f45-e84304227430

Please share the most recent EA app logs and attach them to your post (check here on how to do this):

    Hello

Thank you for fixing the bug in the EA app.

The application works properly and no longer displays any errors.

    Regards.

  • @Narayen mine still does not seem to work. Did you do anything to get it to work again?

I still get the message; app crashed unexpectedly.

    Hi @Narayen,

Could you please share the version number (a screenshot of the window would be neat) of the EA app you're currently on? You can check here where you can find this.

Did you by any chance manually update the client?

  • I can confirm that manually updating the EA App to version 13.188.0.5701 (from 13.180.0.5693), it is now working for me.

I recommend that people go to the "hamburger" menu (three horizontal line) of the app, choose "Settings", to the the Application tab, and disable "Application Updates", and disable "Enable Background Services", to prevent this situation from occurring again. While you're at it, review your privacy settings as well.

In future, if you get a notice to update this App, make a system image backup (or at least a restore point) before doing the update. Then, if the update causes the App to fail, you can restore your system state and continue to have access to your games while waiting for the new version of the App to be corrected.

Thank you for the below. I had to run the update manually (updated app version: 13.188.0.5701).

I can now log into the app again. Finally after 1 week. Thank you ever so much!!

  • It really worked. It was fixed when I updated it manually. After 1 week, I can now play. Thanks a lot. @Narayen

    @Awsomeninja@LovelySakuraDoll@Narayen@debbylosa@710lvp2dkdom,

Additionally, you can follow the steps on how to (manually) update the EA app for Windows here. 🙂

But it's good to know that this update for the EA app seems to fix the issue for all of you! Many thanks for sharing it here!

I'll update the thread as well to let others know that there's a new version of the EA app that fixes the issue.

    Thanks again!

  • I started Windows in safe mode and only then could I update. It works now. Thanks help for me for everyone
