Sims 4, stuck on loading screen

Hello, I was told to contact EA but this was the only way I saw how to. The past 3 days my game has been stuck on the second loading screen (after you click play on main screen).

Methods I tried:

  • Repairing the game
  • Deleting mods I recently downloaded around the time it started happening
  • Making sure the game and mods are updated
  • Updated my driver
  • Reinstalled the game
  • Running as administrator
  • Freeing up space on my computer

None of these have worked and it's irritating me, it would be nice if you could help me.

  • claimME  Sorry for the late reply; I've been away from the forums for a few days.

If you still need help, please let me know whether you can load a new save and a different household in your main save.  (Use Load Game for the latter.)  You don't need to save your progress; this is just for testing.

hello, i can load a new save. However I'd prefer to save the last game I had going. I've done the half and half method where I slowly added some mods back into the file. It worked perfectly when I kept adding them but as soon I have every mod back in the folder, that's when it stops working; always stuck on the infinite loading screen. No clue why it's not working for that save but I can load a new save perfectly fine?

  • claimME  It sounds like you might have a mod conflict, or the broken mod is dependent on a different mod and won't load (and therefore break the game) unless that other resource is present.  In that case, if the two mods were tested in separate groups, each group would be fine on its own.

The way to test is to add mods without removing the ones you've already tested.  When you add a batch that causes the game to stop working, you'll know that you've found one of the problem mods, and you can split and test just that batch with all the other mods present.  When you find the one problem mod, test the other mods against that, as in, leave the broken one in and add and remove other mods until you find the one that conflicts with it.

As for why the new save works, it's very possible that one of your mods only breaks things when some feature it includes is added to a sim.  For example, a custom career or trait would likely only be a problem when assigned to a sim.
