Account Hacked

My EA account was hacked after the hacker reset the password multiple times before finally kicking me out of the account and putting their two emails on the account. After providing the "help chat" with a plethora of data, I was told my information wasn't "100%" correct, so I cannot get my account back. I gave some purchase history, IP history (where the account was located during the purchase), and account linking. I've had the account since the origin days.

Also, the fact that I need to "sign in" to the chat bot help for "account hacked" problems is asinine.

  • This is genuinely frustrating. Being locked out of an account you have had since the Origin days and then being told your verification data is not 100% correct is a terrible experience. The irony of needing to sign in to get help with a hacked account is a real design flaw that EA needs to fix.

Keep escalating. Try reaching out directly on EA's Twitter support. Sometimes that gets faster results than the chat bot.😍

After being unable to verify, I have given up. The verification process is insane. It puts a crazy amount of requirements on the consumer. I had invoices for the account all the way back to 2017, and had many details for the account. But because I cannot remember what DOB or secondary emails I had on the account, or the fact that the creation email was deactivated, the account cannot be recovered successfully. I had the account since the Origin days, and have since forgot what information may have been on the account.

I couldn't even unlink my steam from the affected EA account because I cannot verify ownership. The EA help chat is not helpful and full of copy/pasted messages. Having the agent tell me, "I genuinely think this is your account, but I cannot give it to you because of the system" is humiliating. This whole process is a humiliation ritual. I have since requested refunds/remove EA games from my steam account as I can no longer play them because it's linked to a hacked EA account.

I really wish EA would fix or update their system and policy on account recovery.

I guess you have 5 chances a day to use the AI/Chat center. Make sure you use them wisely.

Got all other accounts back after this hack attack, EXCEPT EA. Activision/Blizzard handed the account right back no questions. If you do lose your EA account, hope that you can remember everything from your account and can write an essay about it.

  • Update: I have done the help chat multiple times to the point, I don't think the AI is sending me to the HelpChat. It is now saying "our advisors can't help with this problem"

    Thanks EA
