EA Account Recovery Impossible Without Old Console

Hello,

I created this new EA Account only so I could post here, because I cannot access my original EA Account.

My original EA Account is more than 10 years old. I know the password, and I still have full access to the PlayStation Network account linked to it. However, I no longer have access to the old email address associated with the EA Account.

The last console where I successfully used this EA Account was my PS4 approximately 2.5 years ago. I sold that PS4 when I stopped gaming. Yesterday, after about 2.5 years away from gaming, I bought a new PS5 Slim Digital Edition and discovered this problem.

I have now contacted EA Help many times and spoken with numerous different advisors. I am completely willing to provide any information necessary to prove ownership: old email, PSN ID, EA ID if available, account history, previous platforms, games, purchases, devices, or anything else.

Support repeatedly initiated the console recovery prompt for me. It never appeared on my new PS5. Eventually, multiple advisors explicitly explained why: the recovery prompt can ONLY be sent to the old recognized/registered console. My new PS5 cannot receive it because it is not the recognized device.

I explained repeatedly that I sold that PS4 approximately 2.5 years ago and physically cannot access it.

EA Support then confirmed all of the following to me:

  • They cannot send the recovery prompt to my new PS5.
  • They cannot verify my ownership using another method.
  • They cannot manually update the inaccessible email.
  • They cannot unlink my existing PSN account from the inaccessible EA Account.
  • They cannot escalate the case to someone who can override this process.
  • Their system provides no alternative recovery method for my account.

I also tried recovering the old email through the email provider and was unsuccessful.

This leaves me in an impossible loop:

No old email → recovery requires old PS4 → old PS4 was sold 2.5 years ago → new PS5 is not recognized → Support cannot use another verification method → Support cannot unlink my PSN → therefore there is apparently no way to recover the account or free my PSN from it.

What makes this particularly confusing is that EA Community Managers on these forums have previously stated that Support may be able to verify ownership through other account information when the old email or recognized device is inaccessible.

I am not asking anyone on the forum to bypass account security or directly modify my account. I am asking EA for a clear answer:

What is a legitimate account owner actually supposed to do when the old email cannot be recovered and the physical recognized console was legitimately sold years ago?

I can provide extensive evidence that the account and linked PSN belong to me. I simply need a legitimate verification path that is physically possible for me to complete.

I have spent many hours trying to resolve this and repeatedly following EA Support’s instructions. I would greatly appreciate it if an EA Community Manager could clarify whether there is any escalation or recovery process for this exact situation.

    Hey mjs38oyyd84g,

The EA staff here on EA Forums can't help you otherwise, as we don't have visibility into your account or the recovery process.

If our Customer Support team was unable to help you recover access to the account and has confirmed there's no alternative or escalation path, we can't change that.

You can reach out to our Advisors to try the recovery process again; however, I can't promise there'll be an alternative in your circumstances, and to play EA games again, you might need a new PSN ID and an EA Account correctly linked.

Thank you for your patience with this.

Thank you for the response. However, one important part of my question remains unanswered.

EA Community Managers on these same forums have previously stated that when a recognized device or old email is inaccessible, EA Support may be able to verify account ownership using other account information.

Could you please clarify why that alternative verification process is unavailable in my case?

Also, creating a new PSN ID is not a reasonable equivalent solution for me, because my existing PSN account contains my purchases and gaming history accumulated over the years.

I am not asking you to access or modify my account. I am simply asking for clarification on whether EA’s official position is that a legitimate account owner in my exact situation can permanently lose access with no alternative ownership verification or escalation process whatsoever.
