I think I'm going to be the barer of bad news here, as I don't believe that they actually care to fix the issue.
I've been watching the forums for the last 11 days, it seems in that time, every few days, a post pops up with a similiar or same issue.
I myself have been struggling to re obtain my PSN that was stolen, hoever I'm told each time we get to the recovery process, that the tools for the recovery are currently experiencing an outage and that this is affecting everyone and that they're working on fixing it. While my PSN is linked to the hacker's account, I cannot play any EA game, which like you, inlcudes the $88 I spent on Battlefield 6 (Australia) .
As for the process, I have had success in stating the obvious, that "my PSN has been linked to an unauthorised account." to the chat service under the heading Compromised account. What you will need, is access to the email used to create the account in the first place, as that is where they will send verification codes and attempt to change the email back to.
If they ask for proof of ownership, they will ask things like, name, date of birth, any purchases from EA , where you last logged on (they seem to care about where the account last logged on, not you) proof of purchase ( I had to travel an hour, one way, back to the store where I bought the game, that was fun) and a few other things, then they will send all of that information to someone else to verify. After all of that, if you've made even a slight error or any of the information does not match what they have, even with proof of purcahse (and evenm a bank statement!) they will deny it and you will have to start again.
That's what I've learnt so far. I know it probably doesn't help, but I hope it has shed some light onto the process. I haven't seen any community manager's respond to these outside of linking the standard "hacked account" page and no one can give any indication as to when the outage will be fixed.
