Usually when a game says there's an issue with the player's game versions, it typically means that one player's game isn't updated, (or the game files are corrupted in some way.
As for both of you buying the game, only one player needs to own Split Fiction to be able to play the full game.

From what I know of, Split Fiction is tied to the platform its purchased on, (meaning that if you try to play it from the EA App, it would say you would need to buy it again since its owned on Steam). However, an EA Account is required to play the game, (which one must be linked to your platform account).
PaliDior & b1ur_red both you and your friends can try:
- Checking to see if there's somehow a missed update for the game
- Verifying the game's files
- Reinstalling the game's files
Note: If you need another player to help figure out which friend's game version is the problem, you can add me as a friend on the EA App, (my username is the same as my forums name), and we can see if we can get past the lobby screen with each player, and figure out what the issue is from there.
