I have an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, and my EA account is linked to my Xbox account. However, whenever I try to download a game through EA, I see a message saying I need to purchase that game. I've had my EA account since 2020, and it's always given me trouble, but the fact that it won't let me use a service I can't purchase is driving me crazy.

Just to clear up one important distinction here: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate includes EA Play, but it does not include EA Play Pro. EA Play Pro is a separate membership available through the EA app on PC.
If the game you're trying to install is only included with EA Play Pro, you would therefore expect to see an option to purchase it.
If the game is part of the regular EA Play Play List, you should be able to access it through your Game Pass Ultimate membership. On PC, please check the following:
I wouldn't recommend unlinking and relinking the accounts as a troubleshooting step, since changing linked platform accounts can affect access and progress.
If it still asks you to purchase the game after those checks, let us know which game you're trying to install. That will help us confirm whether it's included with standard EA Play or requires EA Play Pro.
