Issue with EA/PSN saving progress account system
Hello,
I would like to raise a major issue regarding EA account management and progression linked to PlayStation Network accounts.
Currently, when a PSN account is linked to an EA account, all progression (hours played, Ultimate Team progress, unlocked content, purchases, etc.) is permanently tied to that specific association. However, if for any reason the PSN account needs to be unlinked from the EA account (PSN account hack, permanent suspension, loss of access, switching to Xbox, etc.), EA clearly states that the progression will be lost and cannot be transferred to a new PSN account.
This is exactly the situation I am facing right now.
I am about to lose my entire progression. I have invested an enormous number of hours into the game, as well as a significant amount of money. Losing everything overnight represents a serious loss, both in terms of time and financial investment. It is extremely frustrating and very difficult to accept.
This raises several major concerns:
- In the event of a PSN account hack, the player loses not only their PlayStation account but also all EA progression.
- In case of suspension or permanent loss of access to the PSN account, there is no way to recover what was earned through the EA account.
- If a player decides to switch consoles (for example to Xbox), the progression becomes unusable if the original association is broken.
- This makes the EA account almost meaningless in terms of data protection and portability.
At the same time, EA promotes cross-play between consoles and PC. Logically, the EA account should be the central hub for progression, independent from the console account.
Other publishers allow accounts to be linked and unlinked while keeping progression intact, since progression is stored at the publisher account level rather than being locked to a specific console account.
Under the current system, this effectively means that:
- If your PSN account is compromised or permanently suspended,
- If you are forced to create a new PlayStation account
- Or if you change console ecosystems,
you lose all your progression, even after hundreds of hours of gameplay and significant financial investment.
This feels inconsistent with EA’s cross-play strategy and heavily penalizes loyal players.
I respectfully ask EA to consider:
- Allowing exceptional progression transfers to a new PSN account in cases of lost access or others issues
- Or permanently attaching progression to the EA account instead of the console account.
Thank you for taking this issue into consideration, as in my case it has a very significant impact.
