FC: A Great Business, But Is It a Great Product?

When it comes to EA making money from FC games, I completely understand it. I often read comments saying that the company needs players' money, and honestly, that is perfectly normal. They create a product, provide a gaming service, invest in marketing, and aim to make a profit. That is how business works, and there is even a lot to learn from their marketing strategies.

However, what I struggle to understand is the issue of product quality.

Whether I play Career Mode or Ultimate Team, I constantly encounter problems that are frequently discussed both on this forum and throughout the community.

If I bought a counterfeit or unofficial version of the game and experienced problems, I would blame only myself. But in this case, I buy the official product, follow the rules, use official systems, and even purchase FC Points.

I invest both my money and my time because I genuinely enjoy the game. Clearly, EA has created something capable of attracting millions of players worldwide.

Still, some things raise questions.

For example, you open packs, complete SBCs, purchase packs from the store, and get lucky enough to pull a top-rated player such as a 93-rated Mbappé with 99 pace. Then you jump into Division Rivals or FUT Champions and sometimes feel as if opponents with significantly weaker cards are outperforming players that should theoretically be much stronger.

Of course, some of this can be explained by internet connection issues or server performance. However, many of us have tested our connections repeatedly and know that not every issue originates on our side.

I also follow the wider FC community. I watch content creators who regularly achieve 15+ wins in FUT Champions. Some openly advertise various services, discuss playing on other people's accounts, and complete multiple FUT Champions runs during the same weekend.

At that point, you start wondering what the competitive environment of this mode really looks like.

Meanwhile, many average players constantly fight to achieve 7–8 wins, and are genuinely happy when they manage to reach 9 wins. I am one of them.

And yet, we keep coming back.

We complain.
We get frustrated.
We discuss things on forums.
We accept it.
And then we continue searching for our dream squad and that next great Ultimate Team experience.

In a way, I have to give EA credit.

They have managed to create an incredibly profitable football gaming product — first FIFA and now FC. Despite all the issues, millions of players continue to play, discuss, criticize, and return year after year.

Likewise, many of us know the problems FC has, yet we still return for one more season.
