Feedback on v1.4.3 Gameplay: The "Authentic" Shift & Defensive Logic Fixes
To the EA Sports FC Development Team,
I am writing as a consistent online seasons player to provide some candid feedback on the latest gameplay tuning.
First, I want to say thanks. The recent shift toward a more "grounded" feel is actually pretty good. It feels significantly more Authentic than the hyper-arcade competitive meta from earlier in the year. You might as well just call the online mode "Authentic" at this point, and for the most part, that’s a positive move.
However, it feels like a work in progress—maybe months away from being "great." To get there, you must address these three "surgical" issues that are currently holding the game back:
- Quickness at Low Speeds: Right now, steering is like piloting a 747 or an oil rig. While I appreciate the weight and inertia, real-world footballers are capable of explosive, micro-changes of direction. Quickness needs to be baked into the core movement, especially at slow speeds. We shouldn't need a specific PlayStyle+ just to turn on a dime. The "heavy" inertia shouldn't override a professional athlete's ability to pivot quickly.
- Decoupling Turning from Server Sync: The "Mud" feeling is being magnified by the new physics. It feels like the game is waiting for a server handshake before allowing a turn animation to start. We need the responsive "quickness of movement" where the physics feel fluid and responsive rather than sluggish.
- Defensive AI: The "Brain Freeze" The most frustrating issue is the current state of CB tracking. In multiple matches, I’ve had three defenders marking one forward, and yet not a single one was within 15 yards of the player. The AI seems to have lost its "brain" when it comes to spatial awareness and proximity marking. Defenders are standing like statues while runners waltz into the box.
You have a solid foundation here, but please fix the "Freight Ship" turning and the "Brainless" defensive positioning so the game actually rewards tactical play rather than just struggling with the controls.
