Controller doesn't work in online games, but works fine offline and in menus.

Basically the title says it all. There is no way to know if my controller, a PS5 Dual Sense, will work or not in an online game, so I have to play a Rush game first to see if it is working or not or I lose progress if I try Rivals.

The only "fix" is to quit the game and restart. It seems to always have this fault the first time I load the game, and usually a reload fixes it, though not always. Worse, when I'm trying to quit out I can use the controller to navigate the menu, but if I go back to the game there is no response still. So either way the controller works fine, it's just a fault with the game.
