[PC/Steam] Ultimate Team disconnects despite 95–99 connection score – Brazil

Hello,

I am requesting a technical investigation into persistent EA SPORTS FC 26 Ultimate Team disconnections on PC (Steam + EA app).

The issue began between July 31 and August 1, 2026. Before that, my normal in-game latency was consistently 8–12 ms. It suddenly increased to approximately 17–34 ms. Initially, most online matches disconnected during play. The problem then became worse: I can sometimes enter Ultimate Team, but I am frequently removed immediately or disconnected during a match.

Setup:

- Platform: PC, Steam + EA app

- Connection: Ethernet

- Country: Brazil

- ISP: MZLNET

- Router: ASUS RT-AC88U

- Internet plan/tested speed: approximately 85/85 Mbps

Important evidence:

- During the disconnections, the local gateway remains below 1 ms with no packet loss.

- The general internet connection and EA app remain online.

- EA's own Connection Quality Report scores the affected matches between 95 and 99/100.

- Recorded jitter is approximately 0.5–1.64 ms.

- Recorded packet loss is 0–0.04%.

- EA classifies the connection as “Great” even when the match disconnects.

- Historical EA reports show approximately 8.77–9.86 ms before the issue, compared with approximately 17–28 ms after it began.

- I have also observed FC26.exe communicating with 54.229.157.171:10010 (AWS eu-west-1/Ireland), with TCP sessions entering CLOSE_WAIT immediately after some disconnections. This appears consistent with the remote side closing the session, although I am reporting it only as a technical observation.

- Some recent opponents appeared to be from Argentina, which may indicate a different matchmaking region or game data center than before.

Troubleshooting already completed:

- Restarted the modem and router and obtained a new internet session

- Cleared the EA app cache

- Updated Windows, Intel and NVIDIA drivers

- Tested Adaptive QoS with gaming priority

- Verified that the wired local network and internet remain stable

- Tested without VPN software

- Restarted Steam, EA app and the game

- Compared multiple EA Connection Quality Report entries before and after the issue

The attached screenshots contain direct EA connection-error messages, EA Connection Quality Report results, and the historical latency comparison. The report screenshot alone does not prove a disconnection, but the timestamps combined with the direct in-game error messages document the same period and repeated failures.

Please investigate:

1. My account/session logs and the reason the Ultimate Team sessions are being terminated.

2. The selected matchmaking region/game data center.

3. Routing between MZLNET in Brazil and EA infrastructure.

4. Why matches with a 95–99 score and almost zero loss are still being disconnected.

5. An anomalous ISP attribution in one EA report entry (“Claro Brazil Ethernet”), even though my actual wired ISP is MZLNET.

EA Help's connection category only redirected me to self-service articles and did not create a support case, so I am posting the complete evidence here.

Thank you.

    Update after controlled testing:

I disabled cross-play, fully closed FC 26, reopened the game, and played one match with cross-play still disabled. The ping immediately returned to 8–10 ms.

I then re-enabled cross-play and played the entire Weekend League without any disconnections. Five recent matches in the EA Connection Quality Report show:

    - Ping: 9.33–10.31 ms (average 9.76 ms)

    - Jitter: 0.68–1.04 ms (average 0.81 ms)

    - Packet loss: 0.0%

    - Connection score: 99/100 in every match

This does not prove that cross-play itself was the root cause, because the connection remained stable after I re-enabled it. However, toggling cross-play off, fully restarting the game, testing once, and then re-enabling it may have refreshed the matchmaking/account session. Another possibility is that the EA route or selected data center normalized at the same time.

The connection has now returned to my historical baseline of approximately 8–12 ms. I am attaching the latest EA Connection Quality Report screenshot for comparison and will keep monitoring in case the problem returns.
