Can Icon swaps save this game?

Should I stick around for Icon swaps or should I just quit?

I just suffered my worst defeat in FC 26. My opponent had 2 TOTY players in his squad. I expected him to score a lot of goals, but did EA really have to help him by nerfing my attack?

All 5 of my finesse+ shots hit the post. I passed the ball into space for my RW to run onto. He instantly stopped as soon as he got to the ball. The LB caught him and won the ball back. My players would receive a pass and knock away from goal. By the time I was in position to shoot, his players were positioned to block/tackle. 

I've definitely gotten better since the game was released (play regularly), but why does it feel like I'm just constantly getting battered? It seems like the results are getting worse and worse since TOTY was released.

Squad battles is no longer fun now that I know there are objectives that impact the score. Instead of playing freely and practicing, I'm trying to complete the match objectives to maximize my points.

I didn't pay $100 just to play Rush (the only slightly fun mode left).

Should I wait for Icon swaps or should I just quit?
