TOTY: A Huge Failure
I’m not going to whine and start with the usual “I saved this many packs and didn’t get anything” story. We already know how it goes. Streamers pack big players, regular players don’t. That part is nothing new.
But this weekend was a complete disaster.
First of all, the gameplay is at its worst level since launch. It’s honestly impossible to enjoy the game right now. I opened more than 300 saved packs and didn’t pack a single TOTY. Then I saw many other genuine players opening 1,000+ saved packs with the same result. One thing is clear: TOTYs are extremely hard to get.
Streamer TOTYs don’t count. They are just marketing. They pack big players so that gullible players spend real money on in-game pixels. That system is obvious at this point.
What shocked me even more was Weekend League and Rivals matchmaking. Almost every opponent I faced had at least two TOTYs in their squad. Out of 15 games, only 3 were against honest, no-money-spent players. I lost one of those games, and I don’t mind losing to a better player.
The rest of my losses were something else entirely.
Rebounds everywhere. TOTY players ignoring tackles, instantly winning the ball back even after clean dispossessions. Even when you somehow manage to take the ball, it just falls back to them. I finished with 9 wins, and honestly, many of those opponents were not good players at all.
EA is clearly using honest players as meat grinders during this promo. There is nothing here for regular players. You are simply expected to watch rich squads score goals against you.
This is EA at its lowest point for this promo. The EA magic is at its worst.
