No download button EA Desktop (PC)

Is that only the case for the MELE or for other games as well? 

No, this is happening just when I want to download Mass Effect Legendary Edition.  - other games have the download button.

Can you use Origin instead or do you have EA Play over a MS Game Pass subscription?

If not try the EA Desktop App recovery:

Click on the 3 lines in the top left > Help > App recovery.

Yes, I am trying to download the game through the MS Game Pass subscription. 

Interestingly enough, I don't see this game in Origin at all. Not as part of the EA Play or for buying.  (see image)

Origin is not compatible with a MS Game Pass, that's why it is not visible there.

Did you tried the App recovery?

Unfortunately, App recovery did not help to fix this. 

I'm still missing the download button.

• Make sure EA Desktop is closed.
• Go here and download the "Revo Uninstaller". (The freeware version, Portable version works too.)
• Run "Revo Uninstaller" > Uninstall "EA Desktop".
• At the end of the main uninstall, Revo will ask you which cleaning method you want to use. > Select "Moderate" > Browse.
• If "Remaining registration content found" is displayed > Select All > Delete > Next
• When "Remaining Data and Folders" is displayed > Select All  > Delete. (Make sure your Game folder is not in the list!)
• Restart the PC > Get the newest version of EA Desktop from here.
• Run the EA Desktop installer as Administrator.
• Test.
