[PC] - Mass Effect LE won't launch any of the 3 games

To clear up what the title says, the LE launcher runs fine!, but when I click start on any of the three games, none of them launch. It shows the splash screen for any of the three (as shown in the images), but the games themselves won't run.

To give some background info, I already had Mass Effect 2, I added it to my library a few years back on origin and it has been running fine since and even after updating to the EA App. Just yesterday, I bought ME:LE (on the EA App), and after installation I encountered this issue.

So far, I've tried repairing the install files, doing all the compatibility mode and administrator things for the launcher and the game EXEs, and also reinstallation. I've restarted my PC after each install, and still nothing works.

Please send help. Where's Donnelly and Daniels when you need them. :(

Thank you! But idek what happened, I didn't get a chance to do the Clean Boot thing you said. I tried to launch the game just to see what happens, and it just works now? The 6th time I decide to reinstall it just works. I'm so confused and frustrated.
Again thank you for the reply, and sorry for tagging you. It seems just your presence is enough to get the game to run.

    Please preform a Clean Boot:
A clean boot is a process that starts Windows with a minimal set of services and startup programs. This can help eliminate or find software conflicts.
(This is not a "Safe Boot", that is a entirely different thing.)

How to perform the clean boot:

    • Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
    • Type “msconfig” (Without the quotes.) > Enter.
    • In the System Configuration window, go to the Services tab.
    • Check the box that says, “Hide all Microsoft services”.
    • Click Disable all. (Make sure the EABackgroundService remains enabled.)
    • Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.
    • In the Task Manager, disable all startup items that are activated.
    • Close Task Manager and go back to the System Configuration window, then click OK.
    • Restart the computer, the PC will start into clean boot mode.
    • Test the Game inside the clean boot mode!

      2. Additional Steps (Inside the Clean Boot Mode)
    • Ensure your virus scanner and other security software are disabled.
    • Disable Afterburner and similar software.
    • Make sure any CORSAIR software is disabled or uninstalled.
    • Ensure your GPU and CPU are not overclocked.
    • Disconnect all peripherals except for your mouse and keyboard.

Make sure that the "ASUS Armory Crate" and "ASUS's Aura RGB lighting control software" in particular the process "LightingService.exe" is NOT running inside the clean boot.

  • Well I didn't get very far. Honestly I'm not sure what the issue even is. I installed it in a different directory, tried so many different fixes, installed and reinstalled 4 times now. Is there a way to view the logs?

Aw man, that sucks. I'm gonna try messing with around and seeing if I can find the logs to figure something out. Hopefully someone comes along by then.

  • I can't even get that far. I get a get a box saying this, for all three games. Reinstalled, still getting it.
