[PC] HELP EA App won't let me Download/Install/Execute MELE

Hello everyone


I'm experiencing a download error with Mass Effect Legendary Edition.


I just CAN'T download and install it on PC.
It's that simple.

Some clarifications:

  • I already played this trilogy before on this same PC (it is not a problem with requirements or permissions)
  • I already tried all the suggestions and solutions indicated by help.ea.com (clear cache, delete temporary, etc, etc, etc... none of them worked)
  • I already uninstalled and reinstalled (and uninstalled and reinstalled again) the app (the error keeps repeating)
  • I already tried downloading and installing other games (NONE had problems)

The ONLY game I can't download and install is MELE.

The error is confusing, it has no code or explanations.
The installation just doesn't start (image 1) and then a banner appears (image 2).
I already tried to create an issue in EA Help and after talking to at least 5 traders, they themselves suggested me to make a post through this medium.
I really don't have the slightest idea what it could be.
The only thing I want is to play a game again that I already bought, that I already know works on my PC and now, for reasons that no one can explain to me, THEY WON'T EVEN LET ME DOWNLOAD.

I don't know what else to try. The only thing I can think of is to download it through another platform (I have my EA account linked to Steam) but I don't know if it's possible.
I don't know what else to do.

    @MiammDB Hey, so this one sounds really frustrating. I downloaded it through the EA app and then through Steam to test it and no issue. So it could be a Windows update, or a security permissions that caused it.

    When you installed it, did you install it to the same drive as the EA app?

    Did you make any changes to the install folders?

    have you updated or installed any anti-virus software or pop-up blockers, VPNs, etc?

    Hello!
    No, it's still the same PC where I played it last time.
    It's definitely a bug with the EA app. I got the game on Steam and was able to download it without problems (even the connection speed when downloading it changes drastically between one app and the other).
    Now it remains to see what I do with EA, it makes no sense to be paying for the EA Play membership on both platforms and even less so to have games that I can't play.

    I'm really baffled, I'm one of the few privileged people who has never (EVER) had this kind of problem with any platform.

    @MiammDB Right now there is an ongoing issue with the EA app that is random for players that could be affecting you and that download.

    Are you able to connect your PC to a different Wif? If so, can you connect it to a hotspot like on your phone and see if it starts the download?

    The game itself isn't the issue. The EA app issue right now could be though. You can read up on that threat here to see if it relates. It may not though.

    With no error codes, it makes it harder because it could be a number of things other than the EA app.

    OK, this is absolutely DESPERATE (I can't find another word to describe it)
    I found the game on STEAM. Despite having already purchased it from EA, they offered it to me (again) as part of the EA Play membership.
    I already paid for the EA Play membership (that's how I got it in the first place) but they charged me again for this month's membership.
    I downloaded it without problems, installed it without problems.
    BUT now I can't start it because since it is an EA PLAY game, if I start it on Steam, it takes me to EA App and EA App PREVENTS ME FROM RUNNING IT because there is another process running the application.
    Which process? Well, obviously Steam!
    Ok, I start the game from the EA App... no, because the game is downloaded and installed via Steam. EA App opens Steam and Steam…. open EA App....

    In short:
    I pay for an EA Play membership in EA App
    I also pay for an EA Play membership on Steam
    I already bought the game on EA App TWICE
    and I still can't play it

    I open a ticket in EA HELP
    I speak with 5 (FIVE) different operators to whom I have to explain my problem from scratch and all 5 repeat the same suggestions (clear cache, reinstall application, etc etc etc etc). It doesn't work, nothing works, I go to another representative, again start from scratch to explain (well, with respect, you don't have to pay for the fact that I have been talking to people for ONE WEEK and asking for help operator, after operator... )
    Forget DESPERATE because I really don't have words to describe the state I'm in.
    I'm not even asking for my money back, all I want IS TO BE ABLE TO PLAY!!!!!

    (no, I'm not crying yet but omg I'm too close)

  • SOLVED but I don't know how.

    A whole week looking for a solution to this problem
    They just solved it for me in a few minutes (https://help.ea.com/es/help-top-issues/?product=mass-effect-legendary-edition) I created an issue and stayed to chat with the operator.
    I really don't know what they did.
    Just said "I made some changes, try it now" and that's it.
    The game opened instantly (all my old achievements synced)

    That is fantastic! I am glad they were able to solve this one! I will take a look and see what they did, though. That way, I can pass the info along. Maybe it is something really easy; this way, other players can get it resolved and back into the game!

    @EA_Shepard I'm not lying, I must have spoken (via chat) with 5 or 6 operators in a week.
    She began to give me the required instructions (the same ones that the previous ones had given me) and suddenly "ohh... wait a few minutes... ok, that's it... try it now"
    The game literally opened in my face and the entire screen was filled with old EA achievements syncing with the Steam account.
    It was definitely something that had to be resolved by the support team.
    I am very happy!

    @MiammDB Oh yeah for sure I saw! I sent it over so that they can take a look and see what happened. This will defbntely help out when others have issues like this. I recently start a new playthrough myself, so I get the frustration when you cannot launch it.

    Those achievements syncing those is a great feeling, isn't it? I am happy that they did resolve it though. I have also sent this thread over to my manager so they can take a look. The excitement is real, and we love sharing those posts when players get to jump into their favorite games!
