[PC] Possible workarounds for Mass Effect Legendary Edition launch problems.

I tried costum luncher it didnt work man i am just really unlucky.

So I tried /scannow command in cmd and i attached file with results of the scan it found some corrupted files and repaired them.

But it didnt help at all

As said, this is a nasty error.

• Press the Windows key and "X" at the same time.
• Choose "command prompt (Administrator)" or "Power shell (Administrator)"
• At the prompt, copy and paste "chkdsk x: /f /r" (Without the quotes, change x to the drive letter of the drive MELE is installed on.) > ENTER.
• Choose "Y" at the dialogue > Restart the machine.
• Here is a guide on how to find the Chkdsk log after you are back in Windows.
• Do the same with the system drive if the game is not installed on it.

You should also disconnect any hardware from your system that is not absolutely necessary and reboot.

Please filter the log in this way.

• Press the Windows key > Write "CMD" (Without the quotation marks) > Right click on "Command prompt" in the search results. > Run as administrator.

• Copy "findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt" (Without the quotation marks) into the prompt of the command prompt. > ENTER.

• Upload the "sfcdetails.txt" that is now on your desktop. 

findstr /c:[SR] %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt I tried this command but it wont open the file it says it cannot open the file plus it didn´t help

chkdsk x: didnt show anything out of the ordinary.

Yeah, that is the same error as in the Dump files.

Did you run Origin as Administrator?

• Press the Windows key and "i" at the same time.
• Select "Apps"
• In the list of applications search for "Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2015,  2017 or 2019.
  
• Tell me witch one is installed.

I also tried to lunch origin as administrator , it didnt help .

Repair the game.
(Origin > Game Library > right click MELE > Repair)
(Steam > right click at MELE > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game cache.)

• Deinstall 2015, 2017 and 2019 from the Apps panel.
• Restart the PC.
• Go to your ">drive>:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\__Installer\vc\vc2015\redist\" folder
• Run the "vc_redist.x86.exe" as administrator (right click the exe > Run as Administrator.)
• Run the "vc_redist.x64.exe" as administrator (right click the exe > Run as Administrator.)
• Restart the PC.
• Test.

Important: regardless of whether it works or not, after you tested, install the "x86: vc_redist.x86.exe" and the "x64: vc_redist.x86.exe" from this MS side.

If I understand you correctly the launcher does not start in normal mode, but does start in clean boot mode?

• In the new Window, type or copy and paste "%LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps" (Without the quotation marks) > Press ENTER
• Look if there are any "MassEffect1.exe.Xxxx.dmp" or "MassEffectLauncher.exeXxxx.dmp" files in the "..Local\CrashDumps" folder.
• Zip 2 - 3 "MassEffect1.exe.Xxxx.dmp" or "MassEffectLauncher.exeXxxx.dmp" files together and upload them at a free file hosting service like Dropbox or Onedrive.
• Post the link here.

If there aren't any dump files of ME:

• Press the Windows key > Write: Command Prompt > Right click on "Command Prompt" in the search results > Run as administrator.
• Copy and paste reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\devenv.exe" /v DumpType /d 2 /t REG_DWORD into the prompt Window > Press ENTER.
• Play the game until it crashes.
• After the game crashes, let all Windows crash dialogues finish.
• Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time. > Type "%LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps" (Without the quotation marks) into the new window > Press ENTER.
• Zip 2 - 3 "MassEffect1.exe.Xxxx.dmp" or "MassEffectLauncher.exeXxxx.dmp" files together and upload them at free file hosting service like Dropbox.

  If you want to undo the automatic dump creation, use the command below in a elevated command prompt (As in point 1) reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps" /f

I tried  with same results after lunching either  of the games it will get me back to menu to chose wich game i want to start.

Hi! I also have the issue with the game not work at all not even the launcher. 
Win 10 Mass effect is directly on the Origin. The patch didn't do anything.

I tried adding it to the firewall, fully disabling my antivirus and windows fire wall, I disabled Microsoft files protection thingy. I don't have the one drive protection.
I tried to launch exe of the launcher and the games itself as an administrator.
My machine is powerful however, the processors is old but still good. 

I also did some minor changes that I no longer remember. 

PS. I think you are God for helping everyone in the forum and I believe I speak for everyone. 

@GHoST_pl2 Perhaps try giving my custom launcher a shot. It has helped some people who couldn't get the original BioWare launcher to run on older CPUs. Also make sure to turn off 'run as admin' though after you've installed it, as explained in my post and here.

EDIT: I can see from your dxdiag that you do have a CPU that lacks AVX instruction support, so the custom launcher will likely be helpful.

I was skeptical at first as I didn't think that my processor  was that old (2011) just 10% slower then new Intel however, it did indeed work. I love you soo much man/woman/whatever pronoun you prefer. This game saved my life and now I can enjoy it again. Thank you soo much. I feel stupid for not trying it before. o7

OK, did you installed 2019 after that? Same way as 2015, run as Administrator and reboot. > Test

Yes, that happens to me. I'm going to try to explain (but my native language it's not English so it's difficult) The first time I couldn't access even the lautcher, until I apply what you said about clean boot. After that part, I follow this instructions: 

Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Checkhealth” without quotes. > ENTER.
If errors are found, notify us. If no errors were found reaped steps 1 & 2.
Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes. > ENTER.
The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here.
After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key and X again.
Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command Prompt (Administrator)”
Inside the PowerShell or CMD, enter “sfc /scannow” without quot"es. >ENTER

After I follow this instructions, I decide to test the game but everything habilited. And now I can access the lautcher, and select one of the games. Unfortunally, when I select one of the games (for example Mass Effect 1) the game start, and then appear a black screen. After that black screen, I appear again in the Mass Effect Lautcher. It's different from the first time because when I tried to play the game it's appear the classic "Mass Effect has stopped working" but now that message doesn't appear.

I don't know if there its a solution for this loop.

Well, that is at last some progress.

We can find out which Service or Application is responsible for the Launcher problem later.

Please post a new DxDiag.

Also look at the ""%LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps" folder again. Look in specific for Dumps that are created after you initiated the clean boot mode.

Load them up like before.

After fiddling last night I got it working, then the new update came and it's not working again, jesus christ I didn't think a giant developer like EA could be this incompetent, should of known better, they did release Anthem after all.

I give up on this I'll just get a refund and wait until its on sale for cheap.
