Hello. Unfortunately, it's been even weirder for me. I was able to get the game running a couple of times.
I was able to play for a couple hours. What I did was literally just try to open ME1 again after it crashed. I'd close the launcher and try again.
Unfortunately, I'm not being able to do it again ☹️ I've tried basically everything that applied to my situation on this topic.
I'd love if I can get any help because I already refunded it on Steam, thinking it was an issue with it, but no luck with Origin as well.
And this is my favourite game series of all time, so sad I'm not being able to play it on the little free time I have. :/

This sounds similar to what I had. Installed the game, played through Mass Effect 1 all the way, started Mass Effect 2, about an hour or so in game crashed and couldnt get back in to Mass Effect 2 at all, game launches ok, can still get into my save from Mass Effect 1 and start Mass effect 3 but no luck with Mass Effect 2.
I went through everything in here (apart from downloading and trying the workaround launcher), on the internet and spent a few hours with EA customer support trying to work out how to make it run.
I had a brand new SSD and new copy of windows installed the day before I downloaded the game so a completely fresh start. Needless to say nothing worked.
Today I went back to it for one last attempt.
I found the folder with the save games in. I deleted the Mass Effect 2 save and launched the game. I'm back in, a new start once more but back in!
I dont know if this will help anyone but it worked for me so good luck.
