@Pyro411, Frostbite 3 is actually a good engine, Battlefield 1 is made with Frostbite 3 and released in a considerably better state, issues here and there but nothing too drastic. Game looks far more impressive than ME:A as well. The argument some people have put forward on Frostbite 3 being a engine not really designed for a game like ME doesn't have much weight either IMO considering a good amount of elements in Battlefield 1 are done and handled in a similar way as in ME:A. The biggest enemy of ME:A is a dev team extremely inexperienced for the type of game ME is supposed to be at least, in which case the team (EA should of been doing this automatically anyway but...) should say they need some people specifically experienced in certain areas. Glaring example of this would be whoever did the scripting for ME:A, they clearly are not up to the task, were rushed, didn't have anyone to help them through the patches they weren't sure how to properly script, any number of reasons like that. It is good practice to have at least one person in each area of the dev team who knows exactly how to do things to help the less experienced dev team members along and learn but if EA deny such requests from the dev team, or don't make sure themselves such a structure is set up, thats when you get end results like you are seeing in ME:A.

@codemonkey05, nope, not this one. I'll get a SS of it later. The NPC with the bad texture is a generic character, you speak to him when releasing family members from cryo or whatever the dispute is that happens in Hydroponics.

  • All the bugs I've found in MEA (PC version):

    Graphics & Animation:

    - invisible Ryder in "Movie Night Quest"

    - Cora & Peebee are merged in a cutscene on Khi Tasira

    - When I talked to Kallo once on the tempest he was sitting in his chair, then all of a sudden he was standing atop of his chair

    - when I ordered a drink at Vortex, the glass was missing once

    - when I talked to Jaal on the Nexus once, Ryder's head was turned by 180 degrees

    - at rare occassions, Ryder makes a strange grimace

    Gameplay/Weapons:

    - pathfinder weapons (Deluxe Edition) don't upgrade past level V

    - when you craft a higher level Black Widow precision rifle, it sometimes seems to use a level I blueprint with low stats and therfore doesn't do enough damage in combat

    Quests:

    - "Movie Night Quest" stops progressing automatically after I found Jaal's components. You don't get any email, notification or questmarker about the progression of the quest.

    - ("Hunting the Archon") When you board the archon's ship, right at the beginning you have to kill all Kett to progress to the next part of the quest. However, although I killed all enemies, the radar still showed one enemy I couldn't see on the map itself. As I couldn't kill the invisible enemy, I couldn't progress and had to reload.

    - On Kadara, I couldn't scan the Kett tracks at first and had to reload so I could progress this quest

    Audio:

    - SAM keeps telling me I have new emails, although I don't have any new ones

    @Ross42899, I'll add those bugs to the first post. I've seen those problems too but just plain forgot about them trying to remember the never ending list of bugs cataloging them all.

    Added a new "animation & cut scene bugs" section to better categorise the bugs and break them down a bit more. With any luck everyone, we are getting to the end of all the bugs the game currently has and a patch to address a majority of the games problems at least will be available sooner rather than later. It is safe to say though that this game is so bugged its ruined the experience for almost everybody.

    Do not underestimate how much damage this is going to do you EA, and Bioware.

    @codemonkey05, Yeah thats the guy. If it is meant to be a tattoo its the worst I have ever seen. I've made textures for a good number of years now so if that isn't someone buggering up with the texture it really is just a awful place to put a tattoo. General texture rule I thought every texturer lived by is that you don't make tattoos with one side totally straight then place it down the center of a NPCs face or place it anywhere that can be perceived as where the texture wraps around the model because it creates the illusion of a seam and possibly highlights actual texture seams depending on how the texture is wrapped around the model. Depending on the quality of the model it can also highlight areas of the mesh that are less smooth due to a lower poly count. If that.. whatever it is, is intentional, it should be on the front of the NPCs shirt, or on the sleeve, or heck even shrink it down and place it down the cheek or something. You don't place it down the middle of a NPCs face. If you want to place a tattoo on a face fine, but don't do it like that its just... visually bad, shall we say.

    I think the problem people have with the Remnant puzzles is that there is no variety at all with them and while most of them aren't hard they are a time sink. If people wanted to play Sudoku they would play Sudoku, they are playing Mass Effect though so understandably want to play Mass Effect not the Sudoku mini-game.

    @Dutchoper72, do you have the latest drivers for your card and is anything overclocked in your system? If you are running any AV disable that too. Latest update of Avast for example seems to mess with a lot of things making them behave in a unusual manner.

    @JeRabo81, MEA is messy, and its deservedly getting criticised for the state its in, but it is not yet beyond redemption. That depends on how much effort the devs put in to fix it and how sincere Bioware and EA are. A simple "We're sorry.. we won't do it again" is not good enough. Those are empty words that have been said before by other devs and publishers yet it keeps happening. Actions speak far louder than words. Bioware and EA must understand they have utterly ruined the experience for a majority of players by rushing something out that was absolutely not ready and have forever put a black stain next to something that was held in extremely high regard. Even ME3 with its endings, people could still say its a good game... just don't play the last 10 minutes.

    I have overclocked and defaulted with the same issue of it either freezing/crashing randomly. I have no idea why, and everything is up to date. I've tried lowest settings and still crashing or stating I removed my GPU. Mechwarrior online had the same issue, but the devs released a patch and fixed it. I think Bioware needs to do the same in this case. I've never had any issues with the other ME games, but this one seems rushed...since even consoles are having issues. If they have issues...they made a huge mistake and need to fix their *.

    The crashes even happen on the main menu or before that. I hit spacebar and the damn thing crashed. If the next patch doesn't fix it, I think i'll just refund this * and buy it at 15 bucks. Maybe then they might care and fix it.

    @Dutchoper72, main menu crashing is definitely not good, for the game to be crashing before it's even in-game before giving up on it I would run HCI memtest to make sure you don't have a memory stick going bad and run intelburntest to make sure your CPU is stable. If both of those check out, yep, its most likely something to do with the game.

    @Xx-Gimmle-xX, Post up the video of it if you can, the more info there is on bugs the easier it is for the devs to diagnose and fix them 🙂

    EDIT - Something else I noticed but won't add it as a game balancing issue... yet. Research points MEA is very stingy in giving out. By my estimates someone would need to play the game through 5-6 times to research everything... your game isn't that good Bioware, most people are finding it a chore and a slog playing it once, never mind 5-6 times.

  • You know... something else I was thinking doesn't make any sense continuity wise...

    Where's the Quantum Entanglement communication node back to the Milkyway Galaxy?

    This would have made numerous things possible that a trip like this would have wanted/required.

    2 way communications with Families back home, as well as anyone affiliated with the Andromeda Initiative who didn't make the trip

    Scientific advances being relayed

    Intelligence on the Reapers & their war -- I know I know ME3 has no effect on MEA, so the lack of that intel could be either the Milkyway relay was destroyed or agents of the backer had scrubbed the data after retrieving it.

    However yes, I'm aware this may never come to light in game as it'd be a reversal of the events of ME3 will not have an effect on MEA

  • @Pyro411,I think the assumption would be theres one in operations and Tanns office, but that raises even more loopholes then because anyone that tries sending a message to the MW will immediately notice there is no comm network. With Tann being such a underling like he was I doubt anyone told him about the upcoming Reaper War, it would be nice to have a few characters that come to light that did know about it though and everyone finds out if nothing else it would add a new twist, provide motivation to survive and generally make the story more interesting. Someone really didn't think the story through at Bioware if you ask me let alone be fully familiar with the events of the last 3 games. Bioware needed a Mass Effect fan writing the story familiar with its intricate details, theres plenty of great writers and directors out there that used to love Mass Effect now I don't think anyone would want to associate themselves with this series. If you needed further proof of this, just look how silent all the voice actors have gone they are probably all rightly worried about how much Bioware and EA have damaged their reputations with this game. Ironically, its the character that dies in MEA that have their reputation enhanced, Clancy Brown was simply phenomenal in his brief appearance as Alec Ryder in the game. Gave me the same chills as that epic moment Shepard becomes a Spectre, or more specifically, if you picked the right options as femshep to keep it "all business". The delivery of those lines by all voice actors involved plus the music in the background was perfect. Better than perfect, in fact. It is a standard Bioware have fallen oh so very far from with MEA.

  • When it comes to lack of comm network I had a thought on that as well...

    In the extended endings of ME3, if you basically tell Star Child to fly a kite, it shows a computer with an antenna still functional for the next cycle.  I was assuming something like that could be put into place as a relay point.  Also with the lack of communications back & forth so far, that could easily be explained away by it being above Tann's pay grade... possibly a breadcrumb quest for Ryder/Sam to unlock at some point.

    For that quest I'd say have it buried so deep in flavor text that it'd be one of the really rare secret achievements/trophy for the game "Communication's Restored"

    Now if they actually did put it in, I'd be pretty shocked, but hey this is EA we're talking about, so likely it'll be a DLC disguised as Customer Feedback wanting to know what happened to Shepard & Co

  • If I'm honest I thought things like this would be explained in the story. My hopes for MEA were very muted with all the suspicious silence and lack of information about the game and I said in quite a few places how dodgy all that silence and lack of info looked but even I couldn't set the bar low enough for myself to prepare for the eventuality of what MEA turned out to be. You know you done facked up when you disappoint those who are already expecting to be disappointed - the bar simply doesn't get any lower.

    I ran both of the programs, and they both checked out fine. No errors....so it looks like poorly coded Bioware stuff is to blame on my issues. GG

    @Dutchoper72, that does seem like the case. Theres some other basic stuff you can try for the sake of ruling it out, but its 50/50 if those things will make a difference or not. If you want to give them a go anyway let me know and I'll list the other things you can try.

    Thanks, but i'll pass. I had a game similar to this, but minus some bugs. I tried everything, but I came to the solution of it being a Dev thing, or an AMD thing. All my hardware is in check and no issues have been on my end. Guess I'll wait and hope they just didn't stop MEA bug fixing.

    @Dutchoper72, Fair enough mate. Get in to some Skyrim SE or something thats a good game, just be sure to grab the unofficial patch for it and HD texture mods at least 😉

    Wait... what? Bioware rendered a FMV where Ryder has no helmet on in space? I payed so little attention to what was going on in my first playthrough were I was so bored I honestly can't remember what happens in any of the major story scenes.

    Check your settings too if you have Ryders helmet set to off in conversations that could be it, but you would think in scenes Ryder absolutely needs a helmet on Bioware would override that option, fairly certain ME3 did that - walking in space when trying to board the geth ship would of looked rather hilarious with no helmet on 😛
