weapon mods bug

I think the real issue is not enough people are experiencing this problem.  And if they are, they're either not noticing it or they simply don't care to want a solution (they don't let it interfere with the overall gaming experience).  However, a good portion of ME3 owners -- myself included -- both strive to collect everything possible in their playthroughs, and have customization control that isn't limited by a mere bug.  But having this problem occur continuously on our save files effects our gaming experience greatly.

I found something while snooping in the save file with gibbed editor

There is 5 slots in weapon mods option, likely for the fact that you can have 5 weapons on you

every one of those actually had either sniper rifle or shotgun in my case.

I just started a game without installing weapons mods on my weapons, will say if it's change anything

Finally found a way to bypass the bug : unless you picked up at least 2 mods for each of the 5 types of weapons (assault rifles, shotgun, sniper rifles, submachines guns and Heavy pistols) DO NOT MOD YOUR WEAPONS

rookieone:  you can not mod your weapons prior to picking the first mods during Mars mission.  The problem is that while you can pick up the mod (for example from the cafeteria during Mars mission), it's not unlocked thus you never see it in the weapon modification screen.

Since this bug is most probably never going to be fixed, maybe there is a way to edit our saves to unlock missing weapon mods using Gibbeds Mass Effect 3 save editor? Does anyone have any idea how?

NOTE:DO NOT MOD THEM PAST LEVEL 5 MODS OR YOU END UP WITH NO BONUS.
i didn't see any .flags for the weapon mods so i don't think you'll need them.

Will try it.

I found the following solution.

1. Open the save in Gibbed

2. Go to Raw >> Plot >> Player Variables

3. Open the Collection editor

4. Press "Add"

5. In "Name" enter the name of mod, in "Value" enter the rank of mod

6. Press "OK"

7. Go to Uncategorized >> Treasures

8. Open the Collection editor

9. Select the members whose name corresponds to the level where found unreported mod (for Mars it's "Biop_ProMar")

10. Go to Items and open the Collection editor

11. Add a line with the name of mod

12. Press "ОК"

13. Save the file.

In game load edited save.

So, I'm doing a little of my own digging

I started by purging anything ME3 on my PS3, all saves, all DLC and patches.

I restarted the game, but I ONLY installed the patch that's prmompted by starting the game, version 1.08. I did not re-download or install DLC

I'm nearly finished up on the mars mission now, and no problems so far. As opposed to last time, I installes all mods as soon as I could, rather than waiting to return to Normandy.

I'm not sure however if I've missed the Vindicator Battle rifle.

Just to be clear, there are NO other saves for ME3 on my system other than this playthrough.

I am having this issue on PC as well. I got Mass Effect 3 for free a little while back due to Sim City if that makes a difference. As far as I know, there were no DLC with that and I have not purchased any. I started a campaign last night and everything was working great until the SMG mod and workbench on Mars mission. Same as others, I picked up the mod and went to the bench, no "modify" button show for SMG or any of the weapons for that matter. I did try re-loading a save and this did not help.
